That is the best part Baz. In the rainforest we are finally allowed a campfire so making a roast lamb dinner. In the outback.. don't remind me. I've been awake thinking what to take. It'll be really expensive out there so want to be prepared. There is a very noce restaurant though we might eat at in Ularu.
Oh no Kuskiwi you just made me have to rethink my plans. I only just decided today to not go to Kings Canyon and see West MacDonald Ranges. Did you go there? I've never been so far inland before.

Sorry - Lots of years ago Moc (at least 30) but I loved it. Perhaps it was just how we were feeling at the time but it was no where near as busy as the other sites and while getting to the top of the canyon was quite steep the walks were fantastic. Not quite sure which area of the rim we were on (spent a few days out there) but waded across a small stream into an area with a beautiful pool (no photos unfortunately as the ex took them then burnt them). In the sunlight the walls down the canyon are in places like polished glass.
WM R - they too are fabulous. What ever you decide enjoy and come back to us with a report please. I love to hear of someone else doing my memory lane trips.

It's harsh but beautiful. You obviously know the rules and are well equipped. Sunsets and sunrises are usually breathtaking.

Well, we are on vacation in BC! Currentlyy on the sunshine coast and no real plan for the next few days. I think we're staying with Mr_S's sister Wed, and Thurs. but what will we do in the interim? Going to check out the north part of the coast tomorrow, then probably some time on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Port Campbell? Comox? Parksville? Qualicum beach? Wherever we can find a place to stay?

You got a place to stay with us if you want!! That is so nice of you, sophie! It looks like we're going to hang out on the east coast, and then we'll get to Victoria late on Wed and see Mr_S's sisterthat evening and Thursday. We don't have any plans in particular but it might be nice if I let Mr_S and his sister have some time alone together. So, if you have time and are intersted, we could get together for coffee or cake or something on Thursday? I'd love to see you again!

off to modena and parma today... spent yesterday at eataly-FICO researching balsamic and parmesan for our trip today... got an idea of ageing and prices so if we are offered bargains at the manufacturers we'll know to buy...

am kind of torn - we are about to leave, and a. doesn't want to go - she says it is too much traveling, she wants me to cancel and stay home. i feel bad for making her, i can understand, it was one trip after the other lately - but at the same time, i am looking forward to this trip, and also i don't like to cancel when everyone is looking forward to our arrival ... and looking forward to the cycling part (we wanted to cycle from the train station of the nearest town).
