I guess Calais is not so glamourous nowadays. Calais has never been glamourous. It's one of the reasons I want to go there. I am also planning on bringing supplies to distribute.

that is amazing, K!
I have given stuff away for the refugees in Calais before, and I have supported my friends who were on site offering first aid. But I haven't done anything myself.

Bars of soap and cheap washcloths are extremely appreciated. It's already a little late in the season for cotton gloves, but those are always a hit in the winter, too.

Iran.
Unfortunately Brits can't travel independently in Iran any more, so I've had to join a small group tour. I'm seriously worried that I might hate everyone on it. Or they might hate me.

It'll be South Luangwa National Park in a couple of weeks, then Spain in the summer and I've just booked Zanzibar for next Christmas and New Year.

Everytime I think of Vienna, I think of the large parks/public spaces. I know I am forgetting something, though.

Listen to the Vienna boys choir in their 'home' chapel.. It will send tingles up your spine!(in a good way!) ..and go visit the Lipizzaner horses.

How big is your tour group? And where are you going? I went last year and loved it. Hopefully I can go there again next year.

This wednesday I'll be off to Istanbul for a few days. All by myself which means lots of time to wander around and explore what is new and what changed.

Looking at going to New York for a few days as I want to use up my airline loyalty points before the mileage changes.

what do people think of the original Sacher Torte for Baz in Vienna? As long as you don't get it at the Hotel Sacher or at the Caffee Demel. This are tourist traps. Bad cake and too expensive.

Making a Munich, Como, Milano 3 days tour by car with my wife and son. Staying at a wonderful B&B in Orsenigo near Como, will visit Villas, see more landscapes, and looking forward to have some Italian taste. So far promising.

planning most of the month of Nov in Sicily ! - will be picking Baz's brain for more details later. For those of you who followed his time there, I am going to stay with my friend Mario in Enna at the end, but planning at least 2 weekish stays in other places first..

Enna is fairly high so it will be cooler. Siracusa is on the sea so it will be warmer. The Baroque town of Scicli is not far from the coast.

climate change, jeffy. it was 25C further west for the first two weeks of April, and it changed to colder temps last weekend.
edited to add that mom says it used to almost always be bad weather for Holy Week (last week) but this time the bad weather moved to the week after Holy week.
