Just worked out I've booked, for the period between end on June and middle of October, for the five of us, 22 flights, 4 camps, 1 language school, 3 hire cars, 4 trains and 12 different hotels.

Woohoo! Booked one month in India from the end of the first week in November. Treating myself and flying business class with Oman Air. That means in five weeks I go to Spain and Germany until the middle of October, one week home then a week in Lebanon, one week home then a month in India, two weeks home then fly away to Spain, Germany and Slovenia for the Christmas/New Year.

I've just booked the flight into Delhi and I've no idea where I'm going to go from there. Methinks I'll have to do some research again. Probably it'll be another road trip. I hope you'll get chance to go again sometime.

There was no music bar when we were last there. I do hope it is still a good place.

There is some kind of music bar on a float, which I think they either own or have some connection to just down from them, as it is on their website. Anyway, the pictures make the accommodation side of things look nice so we will see.

Anyway, the pictures make the accommodation side of things look nice so we will see. We certainly enjoyed our two stays here though Julian (the English co-owner) sounds like a boring ex-pat. We think he enjoyed setting the place up but doesn't like having to look after people. He also lacks the basic skills of a hotelier, like remembering his guests. I don't suggest he should have remembered us on our second visit but I do think he should have known who we were after we had been staying for several days.

Thanks for the heads up Baz, it is amazing how many people think they have those skills and just set up shop.

His wife is Thai and she has a job in town (teacher?) but does quite a bit of cooking in the evening. The place is down an alley with quite a bit going on: internet café, bookshop, yoga, cycle hire.
How are you getting to Nong Khai? Overnight train from Bangkok? Bus from Vientiane? Flight to Udon Thani?

Off to Spain later tonight until the middle of October, except for a few days in Germany. India in November, Slovenia for Christmas, probably Sri Lanka and Lebanon in February(ish) and then back to Spain again next March. That should be the finish point for Jordan when I officially leave. I may nip back as Mrs M will still be here until June when she will fly out to Spain to begin her sabbatical.

I had my heart set on a big splurge on balloons over bagan, but they don't fly in August. I shall just have to go again one day!

I suppose our next trip will be to England next month after we have sold our house in France. However we are planning our annual holiday in winter and I have just bought tickets to Tunis this morning.
