Aqaba is fine enough sunshine. It's not as if I spend a lot of time in the town, more it is spent lazing by the pool and swimming in the sea (a bit cold at this time of year though). We'd go in to eat and that's about it.

There's nothing much to see in Aqaba and most use it as a stopoff on their way to and from Egypt/Israel and stay in one of the tourist hotels for a few nights on the beach. Otherwise the town itself is not much, so you didn't miss anything.

It's not a place I'd go in the summer as it's too hot so I only know the temp of the water off season. But I take your word for it.

Mr. Kimby and I sat in the hot tub on New Years Day and listed places we might like to go soon, having taken 2 years off from international travel to build the lake cottage. He's retiring in July so we'll have much more flexibility in when we travel. We even agreed on some of the places!

Hello Kimby! Where have you agreed upon then?!

I'm trying to remember. (Wine was involved.) Let's see. An incomplete list in no particular order: (return to) Spain, Austria/Hungary, Honduras, Alaska, parts of Mexico we haven't been to yet (and maybe back to parts we visited but lost our film en route to the processor), Scandinavia, Botswana....

Next trip will be to either the U.S. or Brazil for different reasons. Neither place really excites me but Brazil would be a more worthwhile trip, since I have never been there and want to learn more things about it. I would be lodged in Sao Paolo in a luxury flat, which would certainly insulate me quite a bit from the real country.

US, I agree, no desire at all to go although my mom keeps bitching that we need to visit. Here, we are thinking of something in April, since I am busy with my current project until March. With the Caja de Compensación that Mr gringa has at work, we have some free hotel days for our anniversary that can be used for 6 months from that date. So, we are thinking of choosing their hotel in Iquique in the north and adding a few days. Domestic airfares are really cheap at that time of year, as long as you don't go Easter week. Mr gringa has this idea of going to Cuba, mainly to piss off my mom, but I am not buying it, it is looking a bit pricey for us right now.
