I just realized we have to see a travel medicine doctor for this trip. It's not exactly the Amazon, but tropical enough that I at least need to renew my yellow fever vaccine and see if they think we need anti-malarials. The Catholic University here has a travel clinic, so I made an appointment there.

Spain to visit the in-laws on Friday. Really looking forward to it, feeling pretty exhausted at the moment working silly hours and will spend a lot of it doing not much in the garden, I’m taking a good supply of books. The only activities I am planning are food related, cooking, eating and going for meals.

Tilly Star, I'd be real interested in hearing your impressions and observations of the economic situation in Spain. This weekend I'm going camping about 35 miles from home on a little lake up in the mountains. It's the annual company "camp out", and should be interesting. Lots of good food, kayaks, and a chance of rain. The next weekend!!!! I've been invited to the Navajo Nation Fair in Chinle, Az. A parade, Navajo style, a rodeo (of course), dancing contests, and a chance to go into Canyon de Chelly (pronounced Shay). I've always held a particular fascination with the place, and have never been, so I'm very excited. Will be staying on a Navajo family ranch. Mutton stew and fry bread, yum yum. |

I'm now in Abu Dhabi (Middle East). Not sure that it counts as a vacation as the UAE is now my home but I've only just moved here so I have alot of exploring to do!

I'm off to our cottage in Ardfern on the 5th August for a week with CLB and the family. Its on the West coast of Scotland and its a great house in the country with views out to sea. Its also in a beautiful part of the country too. www.ardfernyacht.co.uk/pagex.asp?bioid=5357 is the webcam next to the marina. I'm off to here again for the week on my own for a week It's raining very heavily and it's too early even for me to be on the cheap red. If it stops raining I'll take some pics. It's almost as bad as Anzonico here. |

Pity you ain't all coming here! There is a great mountain hike around 40 mins drive from here which I am going to do in the forecast better weather tomorrow. It is called Ben Cruachan and is famous for high ridges between it's peaks. iPad doesn't let me post pics, sadly.
