Last week I watched "Secrets and Lies", it isn't what I would call a great film or an outstanding one, but it was interesting to see the differences between Hortense and her birth mother (Cynthia) and family. Hortense is educated, speaks well and has had a far better life than that of Cynthia and Roxanne, her stepsister. The differences were very noticeable and I couldn't but help think Hortense was lucky to have been given up for adoption.
Cynthia and Roxanne seem to have a defeatist attitude and either cannot or will not want something better for themselves, it is like they have just given up. They have accepted their lot in life and aren't able to pull themselves up and make something of their life.
By the end of the film, it is a good thing that Roxanne has come into their lives, for I believe they will look up to her and maybe try to improve themselves. There is also a lot of loneliness coming through from the dysfunctional white family.

The Conformist is next on my list of films to watch so I will report back.
It's not available on my dodgy site but i'll find it for free.
Having read the IMDB stuff, it looks like it may be a tad Homo erotic with hidden meanings in certain scenes - I know what the Italians are like!?
Should I be in the slightest worried about the film's content?

Polanski and Deneuve? What's not to like! At least you know what you are probably going to get!
Vendetta starring Danny Dyer! Great Film and I know everyone hates Danny Dyer for the Mockney Footy Hoolie he always plays but this film is well good.
Maybe I enjoyed it as i'm a bloke....you Slaaaaag!
Offender 2012 is well worth a watch as well...

These days, any old Hollywood Film will be based on a novel by someone that no one has ever heard of as they are bereft of ideas.
Back in those days, you had a Class Act like Graham Greene to direct you in the right way - same with Brighton Rock..It was a piece of pi55 to make a half decent film then.

If you want to sit back and enjoy a Zombie Film with no pretences and a few larfs then you could do worse than Planet Terror (2007).
It's a B Movie Classic already!
It even has Bruce Willis and Quintin Tarantino in it for good measure!

The Neil Jordan/Ralph Fiennes and Stephen Rea Combo from the Graham Greene novel? 2000?..Thought not but it was based on a Graham Greene novel... Oh! The End of the Affair 1955 version? It's not on UTube or my secret favourite site. Try working around the following Site and see how you get on. www.ovguide.com/the-end-of-the-affair-9202a8c04000641f80000000047ec048Everest was always going to be Dull as we all know what happens at the end! Watch Cliffhanger with Sly Stallone instead! Great climbing film...

Just watched London Boulevard..2010
It's got Farrell, Winstone, Knightly, Friel in it but I watched it because Matt King - Super Hans from Peep Show - was innit.
Super Hans is such a Brilliant Character in Peep Show..
Good British Gangster Film and I don't regret the 2 hours I will never get back - as certain Reviewers like to Post about..
Wankers..

And why release a Transgender (The Danish Girl) and a Lesbo (Carol) film just trying to get the Oscar and PC Vote?
Does anyone, apart from White, Middle Class Women, go to the cinema to watch that c rap?

Never heard of it; let alone watched it, Mr K!
Just finished Spotlight and as good a film as it was, it certainly could have been a Stage Play, like Glen garry Glen ross, which is superb set in just a room.
Spotlight should never, ever, get near Best Film as Mad Max shouldn't...
The Revenant is by far the best that i've seen.
