Miss Molly was whinging and whining that she wanted to watch her movie. I said as soon as she was bathed i would put it on. she continued whining and I explained again that the faster she got done the more time she would have to watch. She then answered "blah blah blah". That earned her a stint in the corner which totally pushed her over the edge. She stood in the corner screaming "The corner is nothing special, its just a part of the house! Why do you put me in the corner? You may as well put me in the middle of the floor! Get me out of here!" It took her about 10 mins to apologise and then she went off to bath. Little brat!!

The corner story reminded me of another time she was in the corner (she was much younger). She stood there shouting "Being in the corner sucks!!!!!" Guess thats what you get when you have a large age gap between your kids

When my brother was little he wanted a toy of the moment and he told my mother that everyone had it. She asked if Jack did? No John? No David? No
So then: "well everyone I don't know has it!!"

what's also cute is when kids make up songs - this one of course will be only understandable to german speakers, but i post it anyway: the other day my brother was singing to the melody of "sandmann, lieber sandmann": "Kränzchen, liebes Kränzchen, es ist noch nicht soweit. Kommt, lasst und Christum ehren..."

These are just too cute. I wish I'd written down the things my kids had said when they were little. I just remember them picking on each other a heck of a lot back then!

hm, once a couple of years ago i spoke english to my brother, just for fun, and he looked at me and said "i don't understand turkish" (these days i think he can differentiate turkish and english, and he can count to ten in both - but he makes up words apparently and claims they are arabic, but the mothers of his friends say they aren't real arabic words...)

When we were little we were playing with friends and one of them started calling my brother names and he got angry and shouted at him. My Mum called him over and told him off, saying it is only words and he shouldn’t get so angry and respond, he should just ignore it. As he walked away he muttered under his breath “cow”, of course my Mum whipped him round with a red face and he got a good telling telling off. He calmly waited for her to finish and said “See, it is a bit annoying when people call you names isn’t it?”.

His son inherited his mouth. We were all walking down the road and my nephew (aged about 6) smacked the bottom of a family friend who was walking front. The guy turned around and said (in all seriousness, the silly man) “you shouldn’t smack men’s bottoms, people might think you are gay”, nephew laughed and said “That’s OK, I can come and live in Brighton with you then”.
No idea where he picked up that Brighton was the Gay capital of the UK at that age, but was a very nice answer to the silly man.

One day my mom was having a chat on the phone. My brother (about 5) kept coming to her and bugging her. She kept putting him off saying "I'll be there in a minute". I guess he couldnt wait any longer, because he went next door and asked the neighbour to please make him something to eat "because my mom won't feed me" Luckily we were good friends with the neighbour! She made him a peanut butter sandwich and sent him home!

this morning i visted my dad for breakfast. we were speaking about weddings at some point - like re-celebrating mine with my family. my brother asked if i'd invite him. i said okay, but will he invite me to his whenever he gets married? he said "yeah, okay - but won't you be buried by then?"

About 11 years ago, my cousins son, (who was in Grade 1 at the time - about 7 years old) had to audition for the school play. He had to sing a song (solo as he wanted the lead role). He stood up and sang this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KUJE2xs-REHysterical!

my brother was at my place for dinner yesterday. mr. r. tells me, that while i was cooking, he went to him and said in a very quiet and conspirative voice "rikita is making tomato sauce with sweet corn in it, and i don't like that. but i won't tell her and just eat it anyway."
