I am a sucker for tradition ( default.. where are you?) so I think this thread needs to be restarted. and I really shouldn't be doing it, as I have NO idea what dinner will be, having got home late last night from a week away and not yet been shopping...

Thank you for starting it voy ! I've been thinking about it too. Hmm... what are we having for dinner ? I have been too busy with this new forum here that I am now exhaustend and don't feel like cooking. I guess we'll just throw some raviolis in the pan and add pesto sauce. A bit of grated cheese, tomato salad.

Not sure, the brothers are making it. They are both very decent cooks if they don't get too drunk ahead of time. It'll be early because I want to see the celebrations in the zocalo.

Emptying the freezer continues but it is not bad. Scallops tonight with a little chilli and garlic on some salad leaves; coq au vin, broad beans and some tiny potatoes from the veggie patch; figs a villager brought us.

I had a shite meal at a place my parents insist on going to just because it is close to their house, nice evening otherwise though.

I can't believe my supermarket is getting so brave! I bought fresh calves liver - which I had with bacon, and with cauliflower au gratin and some sliced -right-off-the vine tomatoes. and they also had beef heart -which I bought for tomorrow - will stuff it, and slowly braise/roast

I made a pizza with sauteed leeks and radicchio, oyster mushies as I didn't have chanterelles, pancetta, fontina and bocconcini. Was very nice.

After living here for well over 8 years our neighbour has asked us for dinner. He and his son and then his son's family too have been here many times (requesting Thai food). He is really excited about tonight's meal and keeps telling us more things we are to eat. There will be pate made from wild boar shot by the village hunt, lamb chops, a special aubergine dish (because he knows Mrs Faz loves aubergine), some pasta made by his daughter. I don't know what else. It should be fun.

Last night's meal was slightly different from what we were told. It was duck pate made by his daughter plus other dishes: salad of cooked green beans with grated raw beetroot, tomato salad topped wth tzatziki, plain green sald; lamb chops cooked on the BBQ (though it was cool so we ate inside) with the aubergine dish which was sliced aubergine layered with tomato, gruyere and goat cheese, and baked; roquefort from a small producer. He didn't give us a dessert, not even from the overflowing box of grapes. Nice red wine.

still - a nice send off from the old neighborhood tonight am having dinner with friends - who are kinda vegetarian - so it will be boring tilapia with something on it to try and make it taste like something.. but the veggies will be good as the corn is at its best - ditto local tomato etc..
