Mrs Faz made a delicious lamb's liver curry; and brinjal curry; rice; pappadums; raita; carrot and black mustard seeds. She complains that she still doesn't know where everything is in the new kitchen and the new cooker top is hell to work with. True.

We tested one of our starters for our lunch party on Sunday, good thing as we will have to change/improve it. For mains Mrs H made a lovely roast filet of pork in mustard seeds and honey.

Again, we'll have Chanterelles in a creamy cognac sauce, on Toast. It was so nice last time that we decided to buy more Chanterelles.

off to the 18thC for the weekend. tonight we are taking (home made) clam chowder, bread, cheese, apples - as we are providing supper for all the people coming to the event we are hosting - probably 60 people. Tomorrow night I will cook for "us" - abut 20 - a roast turkey, boiled ham, sweet/sour red cabbage, cranberry sauce, and root veggies: sweet pot/carrot/parsnip/butternut squash. some one else is making the pies. whew.

Oooh Pepe, you're making me hungry for Turkey all over again. Can't wait to get my teeth around those lovely chestnut pastries they serve with coffee in Pierre Loti cafe, the lentil soup served everywhere, firin sutlac coated with cinnamon, etc. etc. etc.
But less than seven weeks to go ... yumyumyumyumyum!

Quite proud of myself today. I made some Halibut with herbs and a tomato from my garden simmered in olive oil. Served with steamed young broccoli and whole wheat noodles. Some olives to round it off. Then vanilla ice cream.
I'm starting to see the value of having frozen fish at home. I used to never eat frozen fish, that tied me down to having to eat it pretty much immediately which was more stressful.

making dinner for me and my scrabble partner, who is suddenly on a NO fiber diet. yikes - talk about hard to cook for! so we're having a ham and cheese casserole with macaroni - and I will sautee some onions in the butter before making the sauce, but then I have to get them out as they are on the no no list. and cooked spinach. and baked apples - with no raisins and he's not allowed to eat the skin.
