To sum up -
The plan was that I was to leave Zambia for good at the end of February and fly to Germany. Due to having an alcoholic brother who is now suffering mental problems due to Korsakoff syndrome I've been scrambling to get things sorted, like selling the car etc, so that I can fly to Spain instead. My flight has now been altered, after some difficulty, so that in just over a week I will go there instead. My intention is to have nearly three weeks trying to get him onto some path of recovery and then go from there to Germany to begin the next phase of life.
Mrs M has a contract that doesn't run out until the summer for Zambia and so will be dividing her time between Germany and Zambia. There will then be a gap of a couple of months where she will take a sabbatical and then resume work with another contract in a different country. I'll not yet mention which this is until the new contract has been signed, superstitious me etc. I/we do have a number of things to do with our kids in Germany as after a period of them being fine, are starting to lose direction with their lives and I need to be on hand to nip this in the bud.
Sometime around the end of the year will be the time we will/should then move on again. As anticipated though, things may well change and the best laid plans of mice and men.......... One imminent problem is that because we knew we'd be without a car for several weeks here and the shops are some distance away, I'd already stocked up on supplies but as there will now be three weeks less that I am here, if anyone wants several bottles of coke zero, tea, coffee, bread, tinned goods, rice, flour and so on, all it needs is for you to pick it up.

Due to having an alcoholic brother who is now suffering mental problems due to Korsakoff syndrome ... I really am sorry to her this. I looked into the large pile of complications of chronic drunkenness and Wet Brain/Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome/Korsakoff syndrome is dire.

good luck, mark, both with your brother and with the move... that said, stocking up on bread seems strange - doesn't it go stale?

Oh, and Mrs Faz has been staying with her daughter, about 90 minutes' drive away. She will be coming back here mid-morning. She should have an easy drive as there is very little traffic.

Mrs Faz is telling me she is looking forward to cuddling with you, Baz!
I just walked to the "molok" where I threw my monthly bin in. And yesterday, I took a stroll of about 10-15 minutes one way to see my brother (and then back).
there is a food shopping expedition in the works, due Friday.
tomorrow, I'll hike to my parents' for a bank holiday family meal.

I have just cancelled our visit to Greece in June. Showing faith that by next year it will be easier to travel I have changed the flights to Jan/Feb and we'll go to Sicily. EasyJet made no charge for changing the flights. I have got a refund from Airbnb for the accommodation we booked in Greece. Next it is to book the apartment in Palermo.

when driving long distance, my dad would take "power naps" he'd stop, we'd go out of the car of 10-15 minutes whilst he'd sleep and then, after everybody got refreshed, we'd continue our journey.

Bon Voyage,
hoping to do similar Thursday morning to shop for fruit, veg, and top up bottled water, pasta and flour, and for my wife to attend the health centre to tour a high risk area for a repeat prescription (what a fiasco), but it will cover all bases regarding reasons to be travelling.

I had to cancel our trip to Greece in June. Nothing planned for the rest of the year. However - deep breath - I have booked to go to Palermo next January. Italy is so bad at the moment that I feel in 9 months time the virus will have subsided and flights will be running again.
