I return back here on May 18th,I believe. I know it's before the 20th though. Will you be in NYC? Fine time of year to go. I go again in September, right after Labor Day unless, I have to go sooner barring any emergency, goodness forbid. My mother is quite elderly, but seems to be sprightly enough of late.

Let me know Voy if y'all need some travel tips on some cool paces to scope out, while you're there.I stay very abreast of what's going on there, and stuff worth checking out,and not worth checking out etc. And,certain times of year, there are some spectacular goings on that one would not necessarily know about. What part of town will y'all be staying in? Do let me know.I love doing this kind of stuff!

I lived in Manhattan as well Voy,on E.92nd for a while, which is where I stay when I'm visiting, and then, down in the West Village. I miss it very much.Ideally,I would live part of the year there. I always feel an incredible surge of energy as soon as I hit the island!! Someday... Mockchoc,I would be counting the days too!! Good for you, sounds exciting. I'm thinking about the culture shock of going from Malaysia to Paris!!

No, Townsville(far north Queensland) to Malaysia then to Paris!
Quixote, don't worry. I'm all ready for it. This is the trip I wanted since I was 16. Now I am 43. I'm totally ready and more excited than you can believe.
I've travelled a lot but not the trip I always wanted most, now I am.

Quixote, what was (or is) your dream trip ? I can't say that it is my current dream trip...but,at that time,I had an all paid for trip to fly to Athens and then go tour several of the Greek Isles and then sail up the coast of Turkey to Istanbul with some scheduled stops on the coast. It was a fair sized private sail boat. I was due to leave NYC on 9/12/01 and I still could have gone probably, but,my elderly mother was so beside herself at the thought of me going due to the "events",that I had to cancel the trip. My girl friend whom I was going to meet in Athens (was flying down from Spain) ended up doing the trip alone.

Not much here. We did reserve a few days at the end of April in this town called Olmué to make use of the free days my husband gets for our wedding anniversary. It is a pretty quiet place with a national park and a microbrewery run by a German guy. I have stayed at the hotel we are going to before and it was nice, plus they are remodeling it so it should be even better. We are probably going to go somewhere else for a few days first, still trying to decide where. Maybe the coast if the aftershocks calm down.
Mr. Gringa is considering going back to school for a Master's, so we will probably have to cut back on travel short-term. However, the hope is that it will lead to a better-paying job in the long run.

Looks like we'll be forgoing international travel this year in favor of staying closer to home and perhaps, if all the stars align, building a lake house.
We will get to Florida, though, in May and November.

I'd love to take a Sanibel beach walk with you, if you're up for it. We can chat about our 2000 trip to Patagonia, if you'd like.
