We've just been to Melbourne - a place neither of us had been in over 20 years. It was fab.
Off to Margaret River for a looong weekend in a couple of weeks.
Have to find another job before I can think about the next OS trip.

I may be a bit biased, 'cause that's where I grew up. I think it's OK. It's a very livable city, with lots of outdoor pursuits and some quite good restaurants and cafes. There's a fabulous international arts festival in Feb/Mar which brings the best of the world to our theatres and outdoor venues.
The suburban beaches are some of the best in the world (white sandy beaches stretching for miles, turquoise water etc), but this is also its curse because the suburban sprawl is all north/south because everyone wants to live near the water.
The city itself is a small modern city set on the Swan River and nice enough, but just a city, really.
There is the Swan Valley close to the city that has some fine wineries (and other gourmet stuff - breweries, chocolate, cheese etc), Margaret River is 3.5 hours away and the Great Southern (where I now live) has also got some fabulous wines, although the associated tourist destination style restaurants and other stuff is not as overt as the SV or MR. In our view, the wine is just as good, if not better than MR (Riesling, Shiraz and Pinot Noir especially).
The south coast is also far more spectacular than the west coast, with lots of granite and islands and bays, whereas the west coast is limestone and fairly straight with not many bays.
What do you like doing?

Sorry Jeff, just saw this! There are a few things you can do, although most Aboriginal tourism initiatives are in the north / Kimberley region. Here are a couple: 1. The Fremantle Aboriginal Heritage Walking Tour is a wonderful way to learn about Aboriginal life and history in the Fremantle area. The Swan River is very much part of the Aboriginal Dreamtime and home to the fabulous Dreamtime creature 'Wagyl' - a Rainbow Serpent - that inhabited the river. The one hour Walking Tour starts at the Fremantle Maritime Museum near the waterfront and winds its way through the city to the Round House before returning to the museum. For bookings or more information phone Greg Nannup on 0405 630 606 or email: greg@indigenouswa.com. 2. Indigenous Tours www.indigenouswa.com/3. At Yanchep you can do this on a Saturday and Sunday parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/site/wangi-mia-meeting-placeYes, around 400km south of Perth. Do you mean Rottnest Island - although sometimes the swell is so bad I'm sure some people would refer to it as Rotten Island! Margaret River here we come (tomorrow).

Mrs Faz is having a day with a daughter tomorrow so I am going to Bristol. It is not much of a trip - only one hour by bus.

me too - in the hardly anything new vein - into day 2 of the Southern Migration. In Albany - great exhibit at the museum of coverlets - and one I didn't have to find the items, design and hang the exhibit - I just get to enjoy!

We are finally going back to Iceland next summer - first time with kids. I booked flights and hostels, we'll travel around by bus.
I wanted to wait till theyre a bit bigger so they wont mind wind and rain or hot tubs.
I also thought we could go hiking a bit more if they're bigger but we found out myson has a condition that means he wont walk very far. It is progressive so it can get worse in future - which is all the more reason to go now.
That, and i really want to go back there myself.

Yes, we can only hope the process will be slow. It's a muscular disease (Becker's muscular dystrophy) and it varies wildly from case to case. For now he's generally doing fine as long we don't plan long hikes and allow him to stop when he gets tired whatever activity he is doing (scouting, sports, whatever). Nobody knows what the future will hold.
Except we know that the future holds a great trip to Iceland for the four of us next August, of course.

I love Iceland. I had an amazing time there few years back and only one day of rain in ten days I have a couple of days between work over new year that I will spend in Lisbon. That kinda counts as a trip I think, also the reason why it is Lisbon is very simple I have to work there the 2 weeks before.....

No problem with finding pupusas. The beach looks fine but El Salvador has a huge coastline of lovely beaches. The capital is not great but do venture to Santa Ana.

My next journey will be to drive from Slovenia via Vienna to Frankfurt and catch a plane back to Amman. Yippee! I've had enough of visiting relatives.

Probably the Azores again in the spring. 2015 won't be anywhere near as travel rich as 2014 (Honduras, El Salvador, India, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon) was for me.

On Friday we fly to Tunisia. We shall avoid the month of February in England. We spend the first weekend in Tunis, staying at an Airbnb apartment in the medina. Then we go Mahdia which the Rough Guide calls "Tunisia's most charming resort". Mahdia does have some big hotels but the Tunisians have sensibly placed them all up the beach not by the town where we have rented the upstairs apartment of a house. That will be our base but we'll be visiting Tozeur, Dougga, Kairouan for stays and day trips to El Djem, Sfax, Monastir and maybe more. I say "maybe more" as Mrs Faz has form on leaving all the details of our holidays to me until we actually go and then making her views known.
