What a Fucking knut!...eh?
He kicks orf in the Olympics and now, shoots a very attractive female in the Face.....4 times...
He was an Icon for the Saffers - only 1 below Mandela...
I always thought he was a bit of a knut when he kicked off in the Olympics...
He's going down for Life....

Isn't there some legal defence about not being responsible for your actions when sharply woken up from a deep sleep?

Has OJ Simpson got a watertight alibi? OJ should have gone down, no doubt about that. It just seems too unlikely to have been an accident, what with the history of disturbances in the house. But of course it is a sad situation all around.

Very sad indeed - but only for poor Reeva Steenkamp. Oscar came across as someone who was almost drugged up on 'Fame' that he had ..Like I said above, he comes across as arrogant and just lapping up the Fame that he had.... ...he had Shooters in the house; such are the gun laws in Safferland... OJ is a Total knut as he, really did, get away with Murder... So, we will add Oscar to the list of Blokes that have shot their Partners in the face - maybe through a bathroom door 4 times - to OJ and Phil Specter.....

I just resent comments I've seen around saying that South Africans feel nervous in their own homes. Oh well I guess I'm not South African but I find the generalisations annoying.

Are you a South African or not? They are comparing South Africa with the US as far as Guns and Laws are concerned...and I can appreciate both sides... So?? Are you a South Affrikan or not?... eff me, you are hard work, Misslacker...

Not all crime in South Africa is committed by black people or is black on black or black on white or white on black -- white on white happens
Domestic violence knows no colour and does not discriminate.
And, what MissA said, I don't live in fear, I don't have a gun under my pillow, I go out at night, so fucking tired of the bullshit that people are fed and believe!!!!
SA gun laws are quite strict, just not implemented well, but this was a legal firearm which he had which means that he went through a few tests before the license was issued, including some time at a shooting range. This is not a gun control issue this is a domestic violence issue.
A bit of an exaggeration there to say he is second to Mandela, Tinman. Oscar hardly bleeps on my radar.

Tin Man, I'm a British citizen but I live in South Africa as a permanent resident.
I find it really bizarre, they've only been a couple since November!

How long have you been an ex-pat, Misslacker? Sounds like you know the scene there...
Oh and why do you feel it 'bizarre'?....When should you shoot your Girl Friend 4 times?
Fair play there, Gobs, but Oscar has been on the main Sports news here this past week and also mentioned on the news pages, non stop. The BBC have interviewed many a Saffer and they have said that after Mandela, Oscar is who they see as representing 'Their' Country. Like it or not.
Personally, Oscar shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Sir Nelson of Mandela but that's how it goes when some 'famous' Sportsman shacks up with a celebrity Model...
I agree about this over reaction towards the gun crime and general violence in SA - it's like whenever something happens then commentators just keep perpetuating that myth...
The World Cup in 2010? Every one said that the stadia would be empty as all the foreign supporters would have all been shot! I think that it was the safest ever.
This week, a well respected English cricket player - I forget his name - said that he never felt so at danger when touring South Africa - and that includes India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan..
I was shouting "You Fool!" at the radio!
I have only been to Safferland 3 times so maybe I can't comment on the crime there but after being out in Benoni, Cape Town, Bloem and many lesser places in between, I have really felt more threatened in London...
Istanbull was like Alice in Wonderland!

I've lived here permanently since 2006. I first stayed in SA for 10 months or so, in different bursts in 99/2000/2001 and then was back for 3 months in 2002.
I find it bizarre because they'd only been together since November, if he didn't like her, he could ask her to leave, it isn't like the only way out of the relationship was to shoot her.

maybe she through his legs in the metal recycling bin? Now you are being an idiot. You are implying that she was nasty and that made allowed the guy to shoot her. It's kind of like saying that some women deserve to be beaten up cause they nag too much.

Well, lucky her she was gorgeous, famous, smart and all that cause if she'd been fat & ugly one almost may think no one would've cared much for her being shot.

This one would have made headlines had she not been a celeb of any sorts too and if she had been involved with a non celeb it would have made headlines too. Only if neither of them were famous would it have got a tiny piece on page 5 and been forgotten.
TinMan, of course when a celeb fucks up (understatement) then people will say 'only second to Mandela', happened with Hansie and every other fallen hero. It is the way that human nature works, we build heros and when they fall we take it personally that they have failed us.
