Quite a good film. I think an unfortunate American remake is in the works.

Paranormal Activity 3 is a hoot! And it actually explains what happened in the others (I didn't see #2) since it is a prequel.

A very good film, Mr K, and why do the Yanks/Hollywood try and do better what has already been the best?
Get Carter and The Wickerman springs to mind...The US remakes were beyond Tosh whereas the originals were brilliant..
Never watched a 3D film, James.....Don't really think I want to after all the shite about Avatar....
Jerry McGuire last night - still good!

I saw Tintin today. It did not appall me although it was full of scenes with no relation to any of the albums. Other scenes were totally faithful, and I approve of the fact that the credits were all done in the official Tintin lettering.

A very good film, Mr K, and why do the Yanks/Hollywood try and do better what has already been the best? Get Carter and The Wickerman springs to mind...The US remakes were beyond Tosh whereas the originals were brilliant.. They are not trying to do better -- they are trying to make money. That is why they call it "the film industry" instead of talking about art. Since American audiences are allergic to dubbing (that I understand) and subtitles and unknown foreign actors, their only solution is to remake the film. And to make more money, they water it down, change depressing endings to happy ones and throw in a love interest and/or a cute animal if necessary.

I totally agree...
But what does that say about the Americans?...
Saw American Gangster last night - good/great film and Denzil playing the Baddie was refreshing!

Got to see Let's Talk About Kevin today at 3:30pm at the Picture House in Exeter...
I am saying nothing...apart from a great film and acted superbly by all involved - especially Young Kevin and Kevin's mum...
Best Film I've seen since Waterworld last night!
I jest!...Go and see Kevin before you miss it, Film Fans....

I have seen "drive" last night.
Movie had a top quality entrance, gave me a feeling of a potential cult film. The soundtrack is one of the best I must say...Film developed not the way I expected but I enjoyed every moment...Again, one of those movies some people might think it is no worth and some people like it at the most.
I just loved it.

Must be a Great film then with no dialogue and black and white?...
I see that Hollywood have fawned all over it...I will attempt to watch it soon...
If I'm that bored...
Last night? A great Noreweigian Nazi Zombie film called Dead Snow!...It was a Blast and well worth 8/10...

The Artist tomorrow for me but I will give War Horse a miss....
Loads of War Horse was shot about 20 miles away from me on Dartmoor but the thought of crying in a cinema, at my age, has put me off somewhat!
I'll download it and cry in my own home!

went to see the artist and really enjoyed it. You might find too lightweight, but .... who knows! It's an homage to silent cinema.

Well!
Was it a Good or Great film?...I'll go inbetween!
I think a lot of the fuss is about the fact that it is like no other film that anyone under 70 has ever seen before - unless you are a Silent Film Nerd!
It's a nice Love Story with fantastic acting and Direction with more than enough chuckles...
Some great scenes including the young actress 'dancing' with the jacket of the Falling Star - nice touch with her hand on her butt and then he enters - stage Left!
Easy to follow film and nice to see some black and white for a change.
It's the kind of film you are pleased you saw but will then wait for it to turn up at Christmas time in 3 years - and you would watch it again.
I stumbled across a screening where the average age was 70+ and I was embarrassed when half way through, the bloke 2 seats to my left started snoring rather loudly and everyone in front turned around to look at me!
I'll give it an 8/10...But then my 9's and 9 and a halves are reserved for The Godfather, Goodfellas and Scarface etc....

That's a pretty accurate review. I support it not only because it was quite well made but also because it dared to go where almost no films have dared to go since 1929. And films that dare to enter 'new' territory will always get my vote even if I will always obviously like good traditional films just as much (but clearly for different reasons).

Loads of Oscar nominations and should sweep up as Hugo has been panned by the critics and only got loads as Scorcese directed it....
Watched District 9 again a couple of nights ago. 7/10....which is a good mark for me!

District 9 was excellent.
This year the film industry is performing auto fellatio (not necessarily a bad thing) by nominating in the top two an American film about its love for French silent movies and a French film about its love for American silent movies.
This is a rather unusual situation.
