I'll be OK but I tend to suffer trauma with regard to the barest mention of all things fig. If I had a worst enemy I would definitely bomb their lot with fig seeds.
We had four fig trees in the garden, three down, but maybe not out, and one to go, but it seems that the remaining one is too well loved.
But yes, to savoury oats, enjoy!

I wonder if this morning's concoction will make slow shake his head... hopefully not!
Porridge (oats, water, butter, pepper) poured warm over diced fresh strawberries.

I wouldn't have the strawberries but butter sounds fine, lots of Calories. FWIW the naturally high lipid content of oats rarely gets a mention yet it sets them apart from other cereals particularly when the latter are not from whole grains.

Or Yoghurt, as it was once known.
FWIW the big supermarkets we visit have started selling a substance they term Greek Style Yoghurt with Cane Sugar.
No, No, No, that is No longer Greek Style Yoghurt!
I'm just off to cook some some savoury oats.

I had Hot Cross buns this morning, toasted with butter (lashings of). I think I can hear tut-tuts coming from far away Swissieland and Extremadura.

Tomorrow will be more Hot Cross buns then it is back to normal: two slices of toasted wholemeal bread with butter. Then there is a choice of what to put on the toast: honey, lime marmalade, Mrs Faz's raspberry jam or lemon curd.

These days it’s a smooth oatmeal ( quick oats) as it is easy for my husband to digest, cooked with either a cut up apple or pear and cinnamon and milk. Same every day.

sophie, the cooked apple and cinnamon is excellent as it is prebiotic. (it does not bring digestive flora with it,but it kinda tells the local digestive flora to multiply)
This morning, I cleaned the shower drain before breakfast, so just had "dos naranjas" as they would say in the plains in Spain. and I've started working on the pack of peanuts (with shell on)

most memorable breakfasts I had were in India. in some hotels, they would offer something they'd name differently depending on the place, but it might be termed "maharaja's breakfast" or similar. you get the idea.
so the option I took a few times, especially before a long journey or a long excursion day was such:
- first, fruit - second and third I don't remember if the porridge came first or if the egg was it. but you chose how you liked your porridge or if you preferred cereals and you chose how you liked your egg or eggs. - fourth was bread with butter and jams/jellies/marmalades.
My favourite was breakfasts on trains in the south of India, when you got to purchase a masala dosa through the train window. The guy would make it and hand it through the bars.

Our breakfast was the same as usual with one difference: it was warm enough to eat outside on our terrace table.
