another tip Other Fabrics If you spill powdered turmeric or curry sauce on your shirt, treat it immediately.
For your best chance of removing a turmeric stain from clothes and fabric, here’s what to do:
Run cold water over the stain. If you can remove the clothing item, do so, and soak it in cold water with mild detergent for 20 minutes. As with all stains from organic sources, using hot water will only cause the stain to set. Wash the item. After soaking, wash the stained clothes as soon as possible in a cold-water cycle using regular laundry detergent. Line-dry in the sun to help the stain fade. If necessary, wash the clothing item one more time – the stain should go away completely. If you’re at a restaurant, request a slice of lemon or lemon juice and apply it to the stain. Let the lemon juice work on the stain for 15 minutes before rinsing it with cold water. You can also set an ice cube on the stain if you’re unable to rinse the clothing item thoroughly. Once you are home, wash the item, and refer to step 2 for tips.

Promise not to laugh now.....I thought you were referring to OXO stock cubes! I was wondering if beef or chicken gave best results? Then I clicked on the link.... Ah....not stock cubes.

Actually to her as she was dealing with the disaster last night.

Tzarine and Voy, I wish I had known you both many years ago! An athletic shop had Sketchers on sale for $29 I think it was, anyway they were ridiculously cheap as these are an expensive brand. They were white leather sneakers but only in size 10 which is why they were so reduced. Stupidly I purchased a pair - only one pair. I regretted it very much later that I didn’t buy more than one, they were so comfortable I wore them out in less than a year.

For some reason the lasts on English shoes fit me better than American ones. when I was living there - no problem - but before and after if I found a pair - I went back and got another black and then whatever other color it came in that I could use !

Tzarine, it has been a long time since my Maud Frizon days. So long since I heard the name. My foot has grown and MF don’t cater for size 41. There are only three in the entire lot in my size and none that are me!

I am so lucky to live near the home office ( and one of the factories ) of New Balance - Skowhegan. And go up to their annual tent sale every couple of years.. amaaaazing bargains. And that is a good brand that wears well.

I have a narrow foot and find New Balance too wide Tzarine, telling me how Sketchers is a cheap brand over there, reminded me of the children’s clothing brand OshKosh, they were very popular and frightfully expensive here many years ago, not everybody could afford them. And here, I was told how cheap they were in America, an American who married an Australian said her mum sends the OshKosh clothes over for her grandchildren!

Here sketchers is what people like my father wears when he can wear casual shoes. I.e. considered an « oldies » brand.
I practically only have Clarks that I bought in the UK. Not sure what to do next.
I might go find shoes in nearby Italy if we ever can cross the border again without too much pain.
When I was younger, I loved wearing via Roma shoes for evening and events. My ankles aren’t up to high heels anymore though.

Thank you Annie, I will make sure to never buy another pair of Sketchers! Clarks used to be a very good brand but now they’re made in China. Clarks school shoes sell like hot cakes but for adults? Maybe not so much. I remember wanting to buy a few pairs when I was in HK, but none of the four stores stocked my size. Sigh…..

related to the above:buying expensive things don't necessarily make you happier with expensive brands with their logos all over -- I was brought up, very old fashionedly, that the only initials you could wear were your own ! ( there were 2 exceptions: the little alligator on chemise La Coste, and the funny little A on that brand of shoes.

Geeze, my car is nearly twenty years old. Just like me! (Ahem….clears throat) Fifi is a 2003 Honda Jazz, metallic silver, done more miles than I’ve had hot dinners and is easy to park. Nifty little car 🚗 I just hope it holds out for a few more years yet!
Thinking about “labels”, the only big brand named things I have are my spectacle frames and that wasn’t because of their brand. When I have to get new glasses 🤓 I make it a point never to look at price or brand. I choose frames that are my correct size (54), suit my face, and look best on me. Then I ask the price - that’s when I remind myself, “Close your mouth, Netskie, we are not a codfish!” As it happens, my ordinary glasses frame is BVLGARI and the sunglasses frame is Prada. The lenses cost almost twice the cost of the frames.

Oven mitts need replacing periodically. I found that out the hard way when one of the oven gloves developed a ‘thin’ spot after being washed. It hurt!
