I have a step counter attached to my keychain so it only counts steps taken outside of my flat. On most days, I only get about 3000 steps going to and from the cinema and the supermarket. If I decide to take a walk, I instantly get up to about 7000 steps. On holiday, I am almost always above 15,000 steps. At age 70, I think it isn't all that bad.

kerouac, I've read that the benefits of walking start at as low as 2000 steps per day, but at that level it should be vigorous/fast walking, not strolling or sauntering.
Today I finally got off my bum and went for a run - first time since Christmas Eve. We've had 2 huge dumps of snow since then so the roads are really rough/deep where they aren't ploughed yet, which makes the runs very slow. But at least most sidewalks are cleared.
I've been slacking off the last 2 or 3 weeks, after hitting my target on Dec 18, and have only gone for 2 runs since then. My target was to exceed last year's total km (last year was 1061 km. I hit 1062.5 on the 18th, and am now at 1076.5). but I hope to get out again tomorrow and get back into the habit after this break!

I do not walk fast. I have never walked fast. My father used to say that I had two speeds: "slow" and "stop." (He was a navy man so he was quoting txwo of the possibilities on the engine control thing.) At my last job, one of my colleagues nicknamed me "flash" for the same reason. This has never bothered me.

Because of my wretched foot I have been told by a podiatrist I must not walk. I have an appointment with the specialists at the hospital very shortly and I hope they end this house arrest.

not much today, but during the last week, we climbed a lot, went on a via ferrata twice, and hiked to and from the rocks where we went climbing ...

Got out for a slow, gentle 5 km run. I ran the past 2 days in a row too, so my legs weren't up for any speed or longer distance!
Also, i've been doing push ups most days (or at least half the time!) since last fall. I wanted to build up to 100, and managed that well before Christmas, in sets of 20. Then I switched to sets of 25. Then 30. Them 35, which is where I am now. I did them yesterday after skipping 2 days in a row, so must make sure I don't skip them today. (I'm actually doing 36 or 37 in each set right now. Wonder if I'll ever get up to being able to do 50 without a small break?)

This morning I rode my bike over to my Mom's (it's less than 5 km each way). While I was at Mom's, I went out for an 8 km run along the river bank. But I waited until too late to head out - it was already hot, and during hte last couple of km there wasn't much shade. I was exhausted when I finished and took a 1/2 hour break before riding my bike home.

Have started a set of utube excercises which are designed for those who can't kneel and find getting up off the floor difficult. Quite enjoying them but I will never be a gym bunny.

I started riding my bike to my Mom's place 4 mornings each week, instead of driving. It's only about 4 or 4.5 km each way so not a whole lot of exercise - but more than not doing it would be! This morning I also went for a run in her neighbourhood while I was there.

I've been sedentary for too long. Combination of laziness, knee issues, vertigo and lack of willpower. Bit stiff this morning but feel positive about them.

it was only in the 60s, so while I did play bocce, for the first time in a long time I didn't do my 2000 kicks ( 1800 with arm movements ) in the pool... and today looks the same..rats.

It's sunny and unseasonably warm today. 5°C, which is extraordinarily warm in January. I went for a run along the river this morning.

Last year I was trying to build up to doing 100 pushups in a row. After getting to where I could do 2 sets of 42, plus 16 at the end to make up to 100, I stopped doing them in July while on summer holidays, and didn't start again until this January.
After being very stiff for a few days, I got back into it and have built up so that yesterday I managed 3 sets of 30 (plus another 10). My sets are further apart than they were last year so I have lots of room for improvement! I'm pleased I'm back into it, though, and am determined to also start doing some strength training on my legs. That should help me run a little faster!

Managed to get out for a run, but the streets and sidewalks and back lanes are all a messy, risky combination of ice and slush and puddles, so it was slow going.

it finally warmed up enough for even me to get in the pool - and I did, and did my 2000 kicks, and now it's going to get cold and rainy again... damn.
