Me being in the other hemisphere, our winter has not yet begun. But.....I can tell you Summer is over, and Autumn brings us lovely days of sun, blue skies and a hint of balminess.

If winter is over (and in the second half of June it ought to be) why am I wearing a thermal vest and the central heating is on?

If winter is over (and in the second half of June it ought to be) why am I wearing a thermal vest and the central heating is on? Telepathic empathy with us Aussies Downunder who are experiencing a chilly winter? Sorry, no sympathy from me. I lived for 6 years in Toronto so I know what winter is like. Scrubb would be even less sympathetic. All right, I relent and send you a telepathic warming hug.

And winter is tiptoeing closer. I have 2 drawers of shirts: one drawer of T-shirts and short sleevers for summer, one of long-sleeved and polo necks for winter. This afternoon I have changed the winter shirts to the upper drawer.

The swallows are back !
And on my drive back from an outing with our dogs I had the air conditioning on for the second day in a row !!!
ETA: We saw the first swallows yesterday the 19 Feb. I think that this is no earlier and perhaps a few days later than the norm.

Maximum shade temperature on our terrace (loggia): 22.4C.
We look set for February to have been a month with the average temperature for every day above its norm. That is very unusual and unique since we have been here.

it's been balmy to the point of seeing people eating ice cream the last week, and we can see nature, namely trees and birds ready for spring. But as carnival ends Tuesday, and lent starts the next day.... winter is coming!

Last year the swallows were but few and passing.
Perhaps they will come again.
Last year the honeybees were but few.
For most insects the same, perhaps the swallows knew best not to come or perished on the wing on the way.
