We're having a few lovely warm days - temperature up to the freezing mark, slushy roads, active birds. I"m sure it will get cold again, but hopefully not AS cold as it has been!

yesterday it was really nice - warm and sunny and almost like a day in late spring rather than early spring.

Reports of winter being over in Britain are apparently exaggerated. It is forecast to return this coming weekend.

Riki - if it's just a couple of nights - bring them in against the wall and cover with a sheet - which you can take off in the day if it's sunny...

When I got to work yesterday it was barely below freezing and lovely and sunny. Felt like spring! It was supposed to stay nice, too.
But when I walked to work this morning at 5:30, it was -25...

It is spring. The bloody weeds are growing and blooming. I have been weeding and pruning and all that kind of stuff. We have done a couple of burns of pruning bits as well as parts of trees (boughs as we use the trunks in our wood stove) which came down over the winter. We will need to go a couple more burns.

Birds started singing, cats chase each other around and making those weird flirting sounds after dark...
I can smell the spring in the air, and feel the hormones kicking.

Lots of people from the prairies move to Calgary. They get the chinook and a slightly shorter winter!
Baz, someone living in Calgary is probably in third winter right now, about to start mud season.

That's probably good timing - Easter is the big "last hurrah" in ski resorts - often the busiest weekend of the season, so great to have fresh snow.
