Lots of warm, half-humid sun today in Maryland.

Kind of cloudy here today, but it's a high, bright cloud and gorgeously warm so the lack of sunshine didn't seem to matter.

It's wet and cold here.....had the fire going with friends over for lunch. Ended up watching two movies as well with lots of cheap red.

Rain here, 1 cm so far in about 30 minutes. Temperature is down from 29 to 20C, which is the low for the day. The morning low was a warm 23C. We journeyed into Virginia to look for the periodical cicadas en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periodical_cicadas. We were quite successful, photographing, watching, and picking up quite a few of the charming beasts. This is what they sound like:

Not to jinx us, but it looks like Mexico and Saskatoon are the only places in the world it's not raining!

bring on the jinx. we need it to rain. that's the may/june cycle: it just gets hotter and hotter until you die or it rains, whichever comes first. and then it starts again.

It's been between 19 and 23C here every day - gorgeous temperatures for being out and active. I don't need rain!

it's not as sunny as it was over the weekend, but the little birdies are still happily singing in the trees at all times of the day and night, so I think they're fine.

There was a very cute possum at the train station today. Not scared of people at all, just negotiating the crowds to cross the footpath to get to the trees on the other side. Waited its turn and everything. I think it might have been a ringtail (as opposed to a brushtail).

Good morning, nerds. How is everyone? I don't think I've ever seen a possum in person, only pictures, but they look very cute. We finally have the sunshine back, but the pessimistic weather people are saying it won't last. Never mind, the garden seems to be thriving with all the rain we've had. All the songbirds seem to have moved on and we are left with a lot of crows and flickers in the yard...both very noisy birds. Still waiting for the baby crows to hatch.

In the sleepy dehesa with its oaks and pigs, sheep and cattle, entrepreneurship has been breaking out, but the Guardia Civil came and arrested the marihuana farmers. Man with cleft stick rarely visits, so nobody knew that our village had been in the news. Muy tranquilo. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
