i don't know, mapes, but i'm pretty excited. i wish we could watch mad men, but it looks like i'll have to settle for merlin and a vodka tonic. poor me.
btw though i found out that we missed like the last ten minutes of mad men last week due to our rather cheapo downloading method. and it sounds like they were kind of important.

Hmmm, what did you miss? Did you see that Don is having an affair with his neighbour?(the doctor's wife). There was nothing in the last ten minutes that explained the weirdness of the other 50. We'll see how it goes tonight.

yeah, we missed that don was having the affair with the neighbor. i assume that was in the last ten minutes. if it was in the middle, then it's REALLY weird that it wasn't in the show. but if i hadn't happened to have read a recap, i'd never have known!

don't think so, pero.. do you know a model that would? I might not get it, though... really depends on what the owner says when they visit.

anything's possible. I'll know tomorrow. I won't worry until then. They might just want to have a look at their property.

annie why do you need your landlord permission to buy a fridge? (or is it that THEY PAY for it since you are renting and they decide when to do it? sounds weird).
Things are AMAZINGLY complicated. My mum is recovering but she is a terrible patient, doesn't follow instructions which makes taking care of three tasmanian demons easy peasy:D She was just going out with the car and an idiot collided with her and run away at full speed. What's the saying? it never rains but..
I will meet an old friend from Italy on Saturday most prob, very excited about it, we never met but for in a chatroom and he is extremely funny. The funny thing is he doesn't understand my Spanish and I do not understand his Italian so we got to speak in English.. hehe

yes, itsa, they're paying for a new fridge, they had a look at the flat today and are ordering it so it's not them it's whichever company they buy the fridge from who will have the most input as to when the fridge will be delivered.

and Pero... I AM studying... typing away some inane rubbish because that particular lecturer just wants to lecture in peace and not discuss things such as current valuable research findings that differ from his point of view, etc... so I need breaks... lots of breaks...

I'm going to wash the dishes. Oh the joys of working from home.

yes, I can totally relate... It seems either I am washing the dishes, or I've just washed the dishes or there is a mess of cutlery/crockery/pans that need washing.... endless nightmare!

That system sucks, annie.. If anyone rents a flat here, as long as there is nothing illegal involved they can put inside whatever they buy or get or want as long as it doesn't damage the property. No landlord will buy a fridge or anything for the person who rents ( lodger? not sure about the word).

I actually like that the white goods of the kitchen are provided. that would be a mess moving around with even more stuff. but I have my own furniture otherwise.

In the UK, many moons ago, there was a culture whereby it was common for everything to be provided as part of the let.
The law was very much different then. If you stayed in unfurnished accommodation for long enough you gained a more or less permanent tenure and a controlled rent. You became a "sitting tenant" and provided you paid the rent almost impossible to get rid of.
This led to a lot of unpleasantness particularly with developers and slum landlords who might use certain methods to force you out. If you can imaging no end of shit that they could get up to including, yes shit, you would still be only close to an understanding of what was reported, albeit some was certainly apocryphal. There were of course legal accommodations that they could apply such as rehousing you or compensating you with your consent but that is so boring and expensive. Frighten the living daylights out of one and there is a good chance the rest will leave "voluntarily".
We had a word for it "Rackmanism" after the slum landlord Peter Rackman.
Anyway, in some cases the custom for furnishings lives on in a half and half fashion, e.g. a fully fitted kitchen, there is no longer a legal distinction AFAIK.
