Thanks. All great info. I'm actually looking at a river cruise with pandaw as my old intrepidness disappeared along with my own joints and my lung and bladder capacity. The Nagi has a toilet.

A Western Toilet! (There's a photo of it at the beginning of the video dated July 2011!)

We might head down to the US next week for our anniversary. There are some hot springs we like in Olympic National Park. And it’s not too far to drive.

Mrs Faz is off to London after lunch for her annual get-together with a couple of old school chums (unfortunately the one who lives near Boston is not flying over). On Saturday I meet her at the Eurostar gate in London and we go for 3 nights in Bruges.

After weeks of indecision and a few medical appointments I've booked to go to Vietnam just after Christmas. Not what I really wanted but it will be fine. 7 day cruise on the Mekong then a few days in Hanoi.

Not what I really wanted but it will be fine. 7 day cruise on the Mekong then a few days in Hanoi. I recommend you to see the Thang Long Water Puppets in Hanoi. The show is brilliant and the puppeteer very clever and talented. The young chap at hotel reception went and bought my ticket and I just caught a taxi. (Of course I'm smarter now and know when a taxi driver takes the "loong" way around!

Glad to hear that your health is good enough to allow you to take this trip, even if it's not quite what you'd envisioned!

Where are you staying, Kuskiwi? I stayed at the Vega Hotel just after its name was changed to Nova Hotel. They're connected with Vega Travel through which I booked overnight tours to both Ha Long Bay and Sapa. Great spot in the old quarter.

Out by the Lake - wanted a couple of days of just pottering around - which equates to sitting on a balcony with a view, glass of wine in hand and a nice comfy bed to have a nana nap on.

Now we are off to a suburb south of London for a few days to keep an old friend company. This is going to be a traumatic visit as we received a phone call at 5 pm yesterday that one of his nephews has committed suicide. His son (with whom our friend lives) had been going to New York for a break. This has been cancelled. So his son will be there but son's wife is away (we think) comforting the bereaved. (On a purely selfish note: I have prepared 3 days meals and will there be enough for the son as well?).

Tomorrow we are going to Brighton for 3 days. Partly it is to look after 2 grandchildren (aged 12 and 15). And partly it is to get my daughter's garden into shape.

I have booked our first class overnight sleeper cabin from Bangkok to Trang. Our January departure is getting closer. I used the site 12GoAsia for the tickets. There are 4 pages of legal jargon attached. One clause stood out. They are not responsible if our luggage "disappears into thin air".
