You stop for a moment under an oak and remember a man now long gone who used to gather acorns for his sheep;.smile and pop another acorn in your pail.

i noticed that lately, on several occasions, i thought of a doctor or a person that advised me in a shop, as a "friendly young man/woman", like, really noticing the young and thinking they must just get started in their job. then realized that maybe they aren't even that young, just starting to seem that way to me ...

you know you didn't ought to ... ... but slow, it was fun To this day it is exciting, as things dangerous are, but now from lesser heights. I remember, (something I have been doing a lot of recently), visiting Le Touquet, it was low tide. The local attractions were the dunes and the fortifications of the Atlantic Wall. But I focused on a small jetty, the type that is a wooden deck held aloft by piles driven into the sand. Right below the jetty the sand was washed out and sported puddles but about two metres away from the vertical drop some smooth wet sand was banked up. I cannot say how high was the drop to that sand and I had no experience of such a leap, yes I was definitely in a leap called for situation. I guess we were in parkour territory, the tidal range is about eight metres along that coast but that drop could not have been much more than half of that. There were no boring people about just myself and a new found friend, I guess we were eleven years old. I knew that pole vault pits were raked sand, I had jumped down dunes, I had played with wet sand, yet I was a little apprehensive. I went last. I also went first. A second later I had discovered something interesting about wet sand. small boys impacting at speed hardly make a dent in it. I picked myself up, checked for any telltale marks or breakages, and rushed back to not tell my father what I had been up to. Nowadays I have to content myself with garden falls walls, and precarious ladders. I just did another one of those Freudian Falls[/s] Slips[/b], didn't I.

Glad Slow hasn't broken anything... recently -keep those slips just Freudian ! At a zoom with college dormmates the other night, someone one made a cogent observation : when you look in the mirror and see how old you look and how you've changed, remember that it's the same on the inside .... and ain't that the truth, as things breakdown and stop working.

And falls are not nearly as much fun once we age!!
Take care slow, as those ladders can be a bit dangerous.

Take care. Falls aren't for the faint hearted anymore. We don't bounce like we used to.

You wonder how you injured your foot. Go to the first aid kit. Get out a plaster, peel off the backing and lovingly prepare to plaster a drop of raspberry jam.

Quiz question: Who was America's principal adversary during the cold war?
You realise you are old when for some people this is ancient history.

The only time my mother used jam (apart from on cold toast), was when she crushed half a disprin on a teaspoon mixed with half a teaspoon of jam to hide and disguise the medicine.

You know you're getting old when your friend doesn't want to join for a night of dancing, cause she doesn't want to bump into their teenage daughters (small town here).
Also, when - as a regular visitor to Turkey - notice how you suddenly when from "abla" (big sister) to "teyze" (auntie)... I'd party with my friend's daughters but this "auntie" thing does bother me a bit.

You ponder relativity. Wondering why when legs slow down, feet get further away.

D’you know something? When I was younger, I walked fast, I always did, the other half used to complain and tell me to slow down. Oh how things have changed. If my yesterday’s self met my today’s self, and they walked out together, yesterday’s me would be so far ahead of today’s me!
