that's because your posts aren't inane enough for them, Welle! Or maybe they don't see them because fb does that to accounts sometimes.

What's the deal with people posting a photo every single day on facebook, regardless of the fact they're mostly uninteresting and uninspiring?! They count each photo every day and I am wondering when it's going to stop. I'd assumed that it might be a 1 month challenge or something but one of my fb friends posted photo #43 today...

on flickr there are one-year photo challenges, so maybe that's the same there?

Yes, there is a daily photo challenge. A friend sort of does it - she doesn't remember or get round to taking a photo every day, and then FB doesn't show all the ones she does put up.

I don't think I'll be able to last if it goes on for a whole year. Will definitely need to click the 'hide updates from this friend' button!

argh! allow me to get really annoyed with those supposedly feel-good videos of people breaking out in elaborate songs/dance at say weddings, etc.
When they mess up it can actually be cute but I have seen a few where it is clear that one or two narcissists run the 'show' and everybody else is cringing on the too perfect video.
If most people in the vid seem to genuinely enjoy themselves, then it's ok but otherwise... cringe cringe cringefest!

Personally, I can't see why people get so wound up about what others post on Facebook. If it's boring to you, just scroll in by, no big deal. Unless it's offensive, racist, etc., who cares?
It's the same as a forum like this or any other; if there are threads which I'm not interested in, I just keep going. I certainly don't get annoyed by what I deem as uninteresting or vapid.
Lighten the eff up, Peeps!

A friend just put out a call to fund his '70s hot tub life style'. He's looking for $5000. Does not look like a spoof. Hope he gets his hot tub but I do think it's awkward.

Nice lifestyle if someone else is prepared to fund it The latest here is a series of 'give a little' websites. The idea started of as genuine for those who didn't meet a lot of the criteria for the more formal help agencies but now it has become really self indulgent. Talking to people who have given to some of the latest ideas they say they get more pleasure from seeing someone go to dance in the States rather than knowing that their funds are going to groups such as the Red Cross where some is swallowed in administration. The big agencies are now struggling as spare cash is shorter. Difficult.

Friend asking for $5000 for his hot tub is not having a successful campaign. I hope he'll still be able to get it. Not enough hot tubs in this world.
I finally 'unfollowed' someone this week on fb-a liberating feature.

I know someone who was asking for $5,000 for their girlfriend's cat who *might* need an operation. They hadn't yet taken the pet to the specialist but wanted the $5,000 in advance to cover the bills that might come. Errrr, find out what the cause of the illness is first and estimated costs if an operation is deemed necessary. People might be more willing to give then.

I finally 'unfollowed' someone this week on fb-a liberating feature. About a month ago I unfriended a former staff member of mine, she was just ranting and ranting a lot of it was incoherent blah and I PM'd her to see if she was ok and she said she was, but it continued and I just didn't want to see it.

some relatives of mine are asking for money for something that i actually find useful, i might send them some ... they run a folclore theatre in rural poland that does a lot of workshops with people from everywhere, and projects with people from a nearby home for the elderly - and are trying to get together the money to make their toilets wheelchair accessible ...

You've been incredibly restrained, I really don't know how I'd react to pregnant nude selfies on faceplant, but I doubt I could restrain myself like welle has from having a private word. As for hot tub requestors, that merits a public response. Just to bring together some other strands, number 18 of this Buzzfeed is a great comment from Sean Lock about Twitter: www.buzzfeed.com/remeepatel/times-sean-lock-was-just-the-funniest-man-in-britain#.av9ayl2ynp. (14 and 19 are worth reading too)

What somebody up there said. Live and let live. But with one exception, fake science about bullshit cures, how somebody somewhere is concealing the cure for cancer and the like. Nobody wants to read that that they/their loved one wouldn't be dying if only... When the whole thing is unsubstantiated attention seeking bollocks.

AUGH to crappy links by bullshit artists that naive (or stupid) people take as truth!
Today it was a link to some organic living website ("Natural - not medicine") about "The leading causes of breast cancer that you should know about, and share with all your friends" and the first "cause" was antiperspirant use. Which I remember being discredited years ago, but this article cited and linked to sources, which were all legitimate sources - cancer research organizations, etc.
So I clicked on a couple of the sources - and they both said THERE IS NO LINK BETWEEN ANTIPERSPIRANT AND BREAST CANCER.
So the organization is making themselves look legitimate by citing legitimate, real, sources - that directly contradict the claims the organization is making. I guess they hope that no one will click on the sources links?
I did make a comment on the post on FB, saying that the sources contradict the claims - wonder if the woman who posteed it will unfriend me? (I don't mind if she does - she's my friend's wife who I barely know.)

Argh! posts shared from 'David Wolfe' or 'David Avocado Wolfe'. I don't know if I should hide these posts to save my blood pressure or leave them coming and keep telling the sharers that he's a fake only in it for the money. Until none of my friends share his posts.

He's a guy who - apparently he himself is saying that - will say anything for money. He's a relatively little fish but growing with sharing many innocuous 'inspirational quotes', and then one post about his business. but his theories are only consistent with whatever will bring him most money. Another one sucking the vulnerable idiots.

Well, she didn't unfriend me, but she also didn't get my point at all. No response to the fact that the sources cited all say the exact opposite to the article that cites them; all she said was "I firmly believe it! Too many chemicals that act as hormone disruptors in personal care products!"
I think I'll be unfollowing her so that her posts don't show up on my page anymore...
