This is the thread about all that's bothersome about social media. Have at it... This is pretty funny: Selfies on social media. wittyandpretty.com/2013/11/01/the-16-worst-types-of-selfies/My favorite is the pregnant duck face, 'the unicorn of all selfies'. On a more personal note the bi-weekly FB pics of a friend's pregnant belly aren't all that riveting. Two or three per pregnancy will suffice... And it's ok to keep your clothes on. Thank you. Rant over ;D

Selfies in general are just wrong. They are so 'me, me, me, me'. Although now I've said that I'm sure there are some, somewhere on my fb feed. Urgh.

This is the thread about all that's bothersome about social media. Have at it... Buzzfeed. Though Buzzfeed has created and is beefing up a news reporting arm with actual real reporters and the odd prize-winning personage. And I am reading their reportage.

what does beefing up mean?

Making stronger (bulls are beefy), itself a metaphor for improving or making more comprehensive or whatever.

Puke! Vent away welle - those half naked pregnancy photos just don't belong on fb. And neither do 1,00 photos of your child a day doing mundane things. Limit it to one or two a week and I can handle it.
And honestly, stop posting status' about how amazing your child is for getting in to whatever primary school - that doesn't make your kid a genius and you are teaching your child to value such rubbish as selective entry to schools. Sheesh, I've even seen people doing this when their kid gets accepted for kindergartens and preschools.
I have no idea what buzzfeed is pero and it sounds as though I should keep it that way.

Lumi, to give you an idea about buzzfeed here's one of the current headlines:
'16 "Dirty Disney" Confessions That Will Shatter Your Childhood'.

Ohh that sounds ridiculous and like a headline from one of those less reputable UK newspapers. I might open such an article if bored and looking to be amused.

I hate duckfaces etc but in general I have no real problem with selfies as long as they aren't posted too often.

Welle, the mini pig (#35) in your Buzzfeed link was absolutely adorable!!
I occasionally get drawn into Buzzfeed listicles but normally I ignore them.

I don´t really care, but I just want to know why it´s called a selfie if CLEARLY someone else took it. (Unless people are capable of taking a full length shot of themselves outdoors a two minute walk away). It is a selfie because it´s of them, or because they took it, or both. Love the link welle!! I like the last photo with the lion on this link, about a rescued cub now lion www.grindtv.com/outdoor/nature/post/lion-forms-unusually-close-bond-with-conservationists/

Eeeeek. Preggo acquaintance who likes to pose on tree stumps just posted nude preggo pics on fb. Ok, everything that needs covering is (barely) covered. Posting naked pics of yourself while 1/4 of boobs are covered by hands is cheesy. And a bit cheap. Popping out belly and belly button do not make up for it.
Add to that the comments of 'lovely' etc and I just want to make some snarky remark.
I'm trying to figure out why it bugs me so much. I do not like those kind of naked bragging preggo pics.

Now she's posted nude blog pics made by a 'birthing doula and photographer'. With lots of trees. At least her genitals are covered by her hand or careful leg positioning. Even my hippie friends generally avoid posting topless/naked pics on FB. This has me baffled-I would not have pegged her as the type. I'll let it go now...I'm turning way too snarky. If I have to look at her birthing canal though it might be time for a 'helpful' suggestion on fb. ;D

welle, the husband's former boss posted a pic of her cesarean section, with the fucking sprog being pulled out of the 'sunroof' pure vomit stuff.
