Pepe, I make them in to rings and pieces of legs, put them in to flour and paprika and then fry them very quickly in a pan with garlic oil.

WOW, Iain! Which flour will you put them into?
I wonder will you able to finish them soft, you know they come out hard sometimes and not very good to have a bite to.

just ordinary white flour from the store. They need just a very short time in the oil, mine are sometimes more like sushi than cooked. I think that they go hard with overcooking?

oh, sometimes I make basic batter with flour/water/paprika and fry them immediately after dipping them.
Its quite funny that I have to go to a "fancy" store here to find squid. It is very uncommon here.

I am not sure but your way sounds that it must be the trick. I have never fried squids, but after this small chat, I have an intention to try very soon.

Turkish wines are drinkable if not great. But hasn't the government put a big tax on all alcohol?

There are also nice reasonable wines here although they have big taxes on them. But, I do not think the mix on the shelves here is assorted enough.

Tonight Mrs Faz and I are out to dinner at our favourite restaurant in Cazals. This is Au Bon Acceuil: 5 courses for 12€ and all the wine you want. I may have more than 4 glasses.

Our favourite restaurant served us with mushroom soup; bouchees a la reine (sweetbreads in puff pastry cases); roast loin of pork in a meaty brown sauce with frites; a cheese board (roquefort and goat cabecous were good); fruit salad with a scoop of passion fruit sorbet. When the carafe of red wine was finished madame brought another.
You can see why we like it.

Great food day for me today. Ater diving went to a tasca with my dive buddy and had fresh local mussels, deep fried moray eel and some fried prawns for lunch. Came to 35 euros for the two of us. Then went to a fish supplier and got a lovely frech Dourada (golden bream) and cooked it for me and Mrs H. for dinner - Happy day...

Last night was pasta with smoked salmon, asparagus, capers, dill from the garden and low fat sour cream. Sorry but I'm on a mission so low fat it was.
Tonight we'll have BBQ'd pork chops and salad.

happiness is sashimi.! and excellent it was. Japanese was the only cuisine I was missing in Brunswick, and this place opened about 2 weeks ago. The guy I sat next to at the sushi bar .. it was his third time there! and I sure will go back.

Smaller curves are good too MrFaz. Don't worry I'd be more than happy for you to try and fatten me back up with the wonderful food there. What you are having tonight sounds good to me!
Voy my Japanese place (the only one here) has gone downhill. Such a shame.

Yesterday we had goulash, home made spätzle and red cabbage. Dessert was apple juice jelly with a layer of lemon custard and sour cream on top.

We had a sort of Greek meal tonight. That is to say the starter was champignons a la Grecque. This is a very French take on Greek food. I have never eaten mushrooms in Greece and cooking like this is not quite Greek taverna style. And - to tell the truth - I think it is a somewhat boring dish. But that is just my opinion.
I made keftedes - beef meat patties into which Kerouac will be horrified to know I included some raisins. Good. And courgette and feta fritters (which I like very much). Some strawberries, grapes and a kiwi as a fruit salad.

We have invited my father for the dinner for tonight.
Like me, he loves fish. So, we will have fresh small bluefish grilled, a big huge green salad with mainly rockets in it, eggplant salad, red cabbage chopped, salted and marinated in vinegar and some more mezes I dont know right now which Mrs.Pepe will be preparing.
We will drink raki without a single doubt.

Tuesday night is a bit dull. Mrs Faz goes out to her choir rehearsal so we eat separately. It is the cold meat left over from Sunday's roast plus some salads
