I'll be at home around 8pm. So, about 20.30 I guess I will be ready to open my bottle.
How about you?

baz - I too am not at all fond of Chardonnay. A few years ago that was all you could get in the US and I thought that I had stopped liking whites (I had loved the Entre deux mers wines that no longer seem to exist). It turns out I just don't like Chardonnay. I much prefer Sauvignon Blanc to Pinot Grigio (which I usually find boring).
Reds - my favorite is the very American Zinfandel ( a very good but slightly pricey one is Seghesio). I also enjoy Riojas. I used to drink more Bordeauxs - but the ones I enjoy have become extremely expensive here.

Sauvignon blanc is a great white wine grape. For shellfish or loacal(ish) Picpoul de Pinet is delicious. Picpoul is the grape variety. It is not at all well known outside this region.

I love Picpoul, my dad has some picpoul in his cellar and offers it to us whenever we go for dinner. I am not a big fan of white, but Picpoul is really nice. I forgot what type exactly it is.

I doubt I can get Picpoul in the US (I have never heard of it) but I will try at the wine merchant and see if there is any chance. Otherwise, I will try it the next time I'm in France.

I also like Pouilly-Fume which is from Sauvigon Blanc grape I think, but we don't get imported wine.
It is Puza Thursday and I can drink this evening!

Pinet is the place the wine comes from. Picpoul is the grape variety.
A bit like Muscadet de Sevres et Maine. Muscadet is the grape variety from that area.

Balls. 8-8.30 pm would suit me as that'll be the earliest I'd be on the compooter. But that's UK time, so it looks like I'll miss the piss.

But 1830 is half-past six ... !
I'll be drinking by then, but drinking AS I COOK. Adding the internet to that would NEVER be a good idea...
