I had the most delicious lunch at a friend’s today.. she made Polish food I haven’t had forever. We had pickle soup and then ‘lazy perogioes’ which were one of my childhood favorites.

tomorrow's lunch will feature the first asparag... do you say asparagi or asparaguses or ...? of the season as a starter. then there will be a lamb "curry" (I was asked to follow a Swiss recipe and it is bastardised to say the least). with veggies and rice (the type that my dad likes, not basmati, gah). dessert will be meringues with raspberries (thawed from the freezer), ice cream and cream.

There is a cafe a couple of suburbs away whose food is fresh and wholesome, so I ordered lunch after having seen the $10.00 off lunch offer. Instead of $31.00 I am now paying $21.00 not bad for a flick of the wrist! For this I’m getting a chicken and avocado sandwich which has Sliced chicken breast, avocado, tomato, cheese, spinach and lettuce with a drizzle of mayonnaise on fresh sourdough bread, a coffee scroll and a small cappuccino. It will be delivered between 1:15 and 1:35. It is currently 12:55. And I don’t have to lift a finger!

The chicken and avocado sandwich was delicious. And filling. Sadly the coffee was tepid and milky and the coffee scroll wasn’t cut and buttered. Not good.

we have our visitors including a 12 year old so will have lunch at a pizza restaurant... Some years back we had a 12 year old niece from America staying with us. She came with us to Greece. She refused to eat pizza because it wasn't the same as in Wisconsin. In fact she would eat none of the food except chicken. So she ate chicken twice a day for a fortnight.
