Went out for a walk and called for lunch yesterday. Bit of a trek uphill but ended up with a nice view on a sunny day - This was part of the lunch. Shopska salad - officially "tomatoes, cucumbers, onion/scallions, raw or roasted peppers, sirene (white brine cheese), and parsley." but usually just tomato, cucumber and cheese. Lešo koljenica - lower leg or knee of beef. Uštipci - fried dough balls with sour cream and cheese - There was also a soup, Begova čorba, which I consumed before the other stuff came - "....a thick soup made of chicken and okra with the addition of vegetables and herbs."

This was the food menu. Left side, Bosnian, right side English. Divide the prices by two to get Euros.

lunch at my parents, a bit of a mish mash, but it was nice and we had a good laugh. So, when the government started bothering butchers with silly regulations for their premises, the butcher who bought my uncle's business moved premises to a bespoke-built workshop where he preps local specialties such as air-dried beef and ham and sausages, fresh sausages, general food catering for events... today, we had "atriaux de chasse" something like in the picture herethat mom served with a family favourite, the family's recipe of courgettes in tomato sauce with loads of cheese, and plain rice.

Fancy this?

The banquet to celebrate the enthronement of George Neville as Archbishop of York in 1465 was bad news for the animal kingdom. The menu included 100 oxen, 1,000 sheep, 4,000 rabbits, 2,000 pigs, 500 deer, 200 goats, a dozen porpoises and a dolphin (in foil). The outlook for birds wasn’t much better. In addition to 2,000 chickens, the table included cranes, herons, swans, pheasants, curlews, mallards, egrets, sandpipers and quails.

In contrast to the Archbishop's gross spread we are having a picnic with a local pork pie, our own tomatoes (in mid-November!), grapes and water.

One of Mrs Faz's cousins (who lives in a neighbouring village) is celebrating her birthday hosting a lunch in the Thai restaurant in our street. Does any Potter know what the Thai is for Bon appétit? Come to think of it, what is the English for Bon appétit?

I had a top notch experience at a very reasonable prices.
Mixed leaf salad followed by grilled sea bass on a bed of lentils, with a bit of fennel bulb. Dessert of a lemon tart, coffee
Everything was prepped minute from fresh and it was delicious.

It is after 3 pm, late for lunch in Britain. Someone forgot to switch the oven on. This can happen when there are 2 cooks

Today is the lunch of Sodbury in Bloom (we ensure the little town looks good with flowers but no weeds or litter). I have made a salmon/smoked salmon/cream cheese starter as my contribution and Mrs Faz will take it. I am not allowed out of the house. The podiatrist said I must not walk or stand about for a week and has put me on antibiotics.

Hugs, baz.
Today, my lunch mostly consisted of sauerkraut and pork slices (dunno the technical name of these - the package states they are paillard de filet de porc) and I'll add something to it.

Mrs Faz is going off to the buffet lunch with a tray full of crackers with the salmon/smoked salmon topping. Many thanks to Annie who gave us the crackers when she was here. Inroads have been made into the crackers (excellent nibbles) but a goodly proportion were saved for a special occasion like this.

One of Mrs Faz's cousins (who lives in a neighbouring village) is celebrating her birthday hosting a lunch in the Thai restaurant in our street. Does any Potter know what the Thai is for Bon appétit? Come to think of it, what is the English for Bon appétit? If someone wishes you Bon appétit, you could respond with dig in. Or enjoy your meal. The Thai for bon appétit is กินให้อร่อย or kŏr hâi jà-rern aahăan. "may you have good food."

Because we had thick hot chocolate and churros at midday in the Mex restaurants we just snacked on a bit of cheese when we got home.
