oh my ... lordamercy... I am unsettled.
Went shopping with my nieces yesterday. We went to a chain clothing store (name starts with Z and ends in A)
I saw generally lots of 80's and 90's - inspired garments. Think these winter jackets that make you look like a wannabe bibendum.
exhibit 1: white.knitted.BATWING.pullover - in one of those fluffy yarns that will felt the moment you wash it.
exhibit 2: lace mixed with everything. and I mean everything. even faux cowboy flannel.
exhibit 3: workmanship so poor that I saw broken garments on their clothes-hanger.
The best bits were embroidered flowers on everything. that is saying something. I think I've seen enough bad fashion for a long long time. bleurgh... they've "updated" the ... i think it was called ruché. you know,a handful of material bunched artistically - well, in the 90's it was by your neck, a bit like the romantics of Victorian times. now they haphazardly add these to anywhere on the garment. for example mid-arm.
And I saw what they call "mid-waist" for jeans. With the high-waist, you can probably add a bra to it and have yourself a new "risqué" version of the 80's dungarees.
no wonder I need to rest.

I went looking for some cotton shirts long sleeved and covering the neck line(the cheap and nasty throw away after a holiday sort) as the info on my off river cruise wandering around in jungle type situations talks about "don't bring good or expensive clothing as the mud is very difficult to remove and tends to stain". Went to one of our local el cheapo centres and returned with shirts similar to those I wore in the 60's... floral prints and button through. Unfortunately they looked better on me then than they do now but for $5 each (which is about 2.5 euros) who cares.

Jeans with lace around the rips - what a fashion triumph.

I wasn't strong enough to describe an item yesterday. it looked like a printed satin pyjama bottom with fluffy feathers at the bottom. Apparently meant to be worn in public, no less.

High-waisted mom jeans...can you imagine that I start dreading having to buy new jeans? This fashion style will look ridiculous on 44-year old me :-o . It seems though, that I'm one of the few to think these kind of jeans look ridiculous on anyone but it just that when you are twenty and have model size one gets away with a lot.
Keeping my fingers crossed that fashion will go back to normal soon.

as my father used to say, " the things you see when you haven't got a gun" -- ooh sweet baby jeebus - the things the long leggy huntresses turn up in a polo. Some of them... well why not just go nekkid? tight as a band aid and hardly longer than... and plunging necklines with no bras. and see thru jobbies with thong "underpants"... spare me ! - only they didn't

Asked SYT (some young thing) what happened, did she have an accident and fall over? She looked at me, I said, "Your jeans, they're all torn."
She looked at me pityingly and told me, "I bought them like this, that's the fashion." I then asked her if they were expensive to which she replied, "Yes."
I then looked at her pityingly and said, "Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a normal pair from Target or Kmart and get a pair of scissors and cut five or six slashes in them?"
Hah! Chalk one up to the older generation.
P.S. I knew all along SYT had bought them and fashion!

SYT's who think ultra mini skirt is fashionable and sexy. One such student has her hemline two inches below her..um...yes, well.... no tights or stockings, tiny little socks below the ankle and shivers because she is cold. No gloves, no scarf, blazer flapping wide open.
I have no sympathy for her.
BUT what do I detest seeing? Males wearing pants with the crotch hanging down almost to their knees! It is SO DISGUSTING I cannot believe anyone could be so stupid As to think it looks good.
I have to resist the urge to yell, "Oi, you there, pull your pants up! You look like you're wearing a nappy!"
