Earlier today, I was horrified to see a female step out of her car dressed in a most inappropriate fashion. She was wearing tracky daks with a top that came to her waist, you could see a line of something underneath, her trackies were twisted, she had a big bum and hips and a big tum to match. Why oh why, do the wrong people wear what they shouldn’t? Apart from the fact that her physical proportions were of the magnitude that deters looking good in certain garments, her appearance is what I would label as “around the house”. I have around the house clothes, and I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing them out in public!

I have a feeling that tracky daks are tracksuit bottoms?

Daks are “bottoms” like trousers, slacks etc. Tracky daks are tracksuit bottoms, only the bottoms, not the top. A trackie is a tracksuit. In America, they might be called sweatpants?
They’re a shocking excuse for clothing. You wouldn’t catch the French wearing anything so unflattering! Or the Italians.

I think Daks are a brand of trousers. So I assume tracky daks are the bottom part of a tracksuit. Netsie will chastise me if I am wrong.

I knew Daks had been a brand, and just thought tacky ones were cheap and sleazy ones. And, yes, here they would be called sweats.

tracksuit bottoms are definitely not outerwear, but unfortunately I am increasingly in the minority with that opinion.

tracksuit bottoms are definitely not outerwear, but unfortunately I am increasingly in the minority with that opinion. I never saw any French person wearing tracksuit pants or sneakers when I was in Paris. They were all very smart, even the casually dressed females were chic. Even in England, I stayed with family when I was in London, they were worried I might wear tracksuit pants and sneakers (again the old case of what would the neighbours think?!) but I put their minds to rest on that score - not a sneaker or track pant in sight! I didn’t see any English people in that sort of gear either, I fact they were nicely dressed. I did think Australians could learn a lot from the English about how to dress your child.

The west coast of North America (both US and Canada) is much more casual than the east coast. I am one who celebrates the casual wear trend as opposed to being a slave to other people’s opinions of what is proper wear. As long as it is decent (think covering appropriate body parts for the area), clean and comfortable.. why not? I immediately think of how many women have wrecked their feet wearing high heeled shoes because of other people’s opinions.

Ohhhh I’d love to have bespoke underwear. No more welts, no more wires and no more bulges. Ah..wouldn’t it be heavenly.

Hah ! Netskie -- I agree about welt and wires, but even the BEST custom undies could not entirely hide/camouflage bulges....
