We did a sculpture walk in a cemetery on Sunday afternoon - it is in one of the historic sections. The pieces were various interpretations on life, death, mourning etc. Some very moving works, some thought provoking works and some I considered a waste of space. Anyway, I posted about this (it has been held every year about this time for the past 10 years) on a local parenting page, thinking other parents may be inclined to take their kids to experience some art. And it prompted a discussion on how hideously insensitive and thoughtless it is to go and view and critique art in a cemetery. Oops. Did I say it is the cemetery board who put this on? And money raised from the donations go to restoring some of the historic sections Anyway, I feel it is a good place to visit.

Went to the Pop Up Globe theatre today and saw A Midsummer Night's Dream. This production originated in NZ, which meant Tatiana, Oberon and Puck were Maori spirits speaking te reo.
Very well done, I loved it. Am now contemplating going back to see Macbeth in a few weeks time.

Went to see the Picasso lino cut display yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Best part is a photo of him right at the entrance, in his studio. Surrounded by projects in painting, prints, and sculpture, he's sitting looking at the camera with very intense eyes, and his whole body is just full of energy and bounce.

Saw Macbeth yesterday - excellent production, a different company from the one who did A Midsummer Night's Dream. So glad we did not go for groundling tickets as it was very wet at times.

Jeffy, how does figueras look like these days? I enjoyed the village (though I remember the many many steps!) some thirty years ago or so. Although the drive there was heart-wrenching as a massive fire had charred all the olive trees to the ground not long before our visit. I cried for the trees and for those who tended them.
EDITED to amend that I got confused. I'm talking about Cadaques. Not Figueres.

figueres is a city, not a village and it's pretty much tainted by tourists seeking dali...
