Today, I attended a screening of "Lion".
What an amazing film. What an amazing story.
I felt the film's quality was excellent. Do go see it, but please, take tissues with you.

I saw it tonight as well. Fabulous movie. Yes, I agree, emotional.. But so good. And Dev Patel is so good. I hope he gets the Oscar.

Can I ask, Sophie... When Saroo arrives in the orphanage. Does he see the Rama (but not a god) guy on top of the wall?
aah, Dev. He's one of my favourites.

By the way, I intended this thread to be for everyone to share their cultural activities...

We have seen lots and lots of Baroque churches. Does that count as a cultural activity? Oh, and then lots more Baroque churches. Enough of Baroque churches we say.

On Wednesday evening a knock at the door heralded the arrival of a gift that a neighbour had received on our behalf:
Red Wine Loaves & Fishes.
Not difficult to guess the why and the when, but as to the benefactor can you guess, from whom the came?

Nooooo
The Council!
Not just us, every home in the village got the same combination. A sort feeding of the thirty. I have no idea if it applies to the other villages with the same Ayuntamiento. The fish were sardines and very dead, but the boys and girls say Woof to Lenten gifts.
This happens here on some years but not others without apparent pattern or reason beyond it occurring on Ash Wednesday.
Sometimes this place is worryingly like Gormenghast.

maybe it depends on how much money the ayuntamento has for this/the price of the fish, etc.

Not enough money to provide the village with clean potable water for sure, now that would be an innovation.

Bluegrass concert last night - the Katahdin Valley Boys ( they have a FB page) ( my friend Ken Brooks is the guitar player ) they were on top form - and aside from great music, they enjoy each other and the bantering between pieces is hilarious.
