had ramen for dinner - according to the recipe for two people. a. didn't eat much though, and i only managed about a fourth. so, will take some to work tomorrow, and with the rest will see if it is still edible after freezing.

Twice a year Chipping Sodbury has a 2-day Mop Fair. This is an ancient tradition, a sort of labour market. People with various skills would advertise themselves to potential employers. So a maid would carry a mop, a forestry worker would carry a branch, a farm worker carry stalks of wheat... Deal agreed, they'd go to the nearest pub to seal it. Maybe that is the reason we have 6 pubs in 50 metres in the centre of town.
I don't know when this tradition faded away. The name Mop Fair has stayed but now it is a fun fair. For 2 days the High Street is closed to traffic. Enormous rides are erected. There are Dodgem cars (?Bumper cars?). Food stalls with unhealthy foods do a roaring trade. One of the pubs has a whole hog roasting.
It started at 6 pm yesterday, stopped overnight and will start again this afternoon at 2pm until 10. Then it is dismantled and taken away. When I go to collect the Sunday paper miraculously the High Street is back to normal. Actually better than normal because the street has been cleaned and there are no parked cars.

I call them dodgem cars as well, and that whole pig sounds great -- I think I would show up holding a knife and fork - as an eater !

As usual I went to pick up the morning paper. There was a girl behind the till I didn't know. I said: Is that cat eating a mouse in the corner yours? She went to have a look. There was no cat. April Fool!! She looked at me with puzzlement. Do kids (she was about 18) not know about April Fool?
Which reminds me... When we lived in France I went to the bedroom window and said: Good grief, there's a wild boar in our swimming pool. Mrs Faz leapt out of bed to have a look. Poisson d'avril, I shouted.
Does anybody know why the French say Poisson d'avril?

the sunday paper yesterday, the only sunday paper in french-speaking switzerland... did something that was not funny at all. they said that the paper had to be printed elsewhere due to a fire and therefore the magazine and tv guide that usually come with the paper would be available Monday morning.
Well.. it wasn't there this morning. I haven't been able to find anything about any of it online, and my brother got the magazine, but not the tv guide. so that's super weird. We had to pay the same price.

who are the asswhole tiktokers, tzarine? annie usually females posing as "fashun models" or performing "choreography" or making "sexiface" they block our doors w their small shoots & post them on their tiktok accounts. our hood is particularly picturesque now w trees in bloom. the buildings are mainly from the late 19th early 20th century the name of our street also appeared on a show once so we draw even more idiots

oh, those are a nightmare.
I actually am all for the tiktokers who are doing good, such as those protesting $cientology by doing "1st amendment audits" outside various of their organisations. these are fab and I would support them financially if I had the financial means.
