I can't find the tread about strange words and usage - so here goes: this was part of an ad that popped up (for my ad-blocker !), "As always, we’re constantly looking to see how websites and publishers are interacting with ad blockers. We’ve iterated on our extension to ensure that we stay ahead and you can continue to block ads as you browse."
The item in question is "Iterated" - what the hell does that mean?

In a couple of weeks we are going to visit Gallipoli. There is another Gallipoli in Turkey. We know it as a humiliating defeat for Britain and its allies (the Turks have a different view). Gallipoli was a Greek settlement as were lots of Mediterranean ports. A translation of its name means Beautiful City. Concrete was not known back in the Greek days so at least the old town should still be beautiful.

Why does the smell of whatever the dog rolled in permeate everything… yet no smell on her?

lumi, I really understand that. The fact that I don't want many/any of my parents' stuff doesn't reflect any sort of lack of care. I just have no use for that stuff. I don't need a set of good silverware that need polishing, or a set of china that would just take up space in my small kitchen cupboard.

FWIW I was clueless too.

I'm tired and my foot hurts. We explored the town a bit too much this afternoon. And I am cooking dinner tonight. This is the first time I've cooked since we left Chipping Sodbury. Cross your fingers I haven't forgotten how to fry fish.

Thanks, Scrubb. Dinner turned out fine. The fish came from the frozen food shop a very short walk away. It was tasty.

I was looking up a recipe and I saw the site had an Anti Slavery Policy. What I want to know is: What is Meeting Pot's Anti Slavery Policy? I think we should be told.

A letter in the Times this morning suggests that every street on which there is a Russian embassy or consulate should be renamed Navalny Street.

I am doing a Nigella Lawson dish: tray-baked chicken. It is very easy. It is a roasting tin with a mass of still frozen peas, stubs of leeks prodded in and chicken thighs on top. Obviously there are other things for flavour. Cooked for 75 minutes.
