I started "Fleabag" based on recommendations in this thread, and it is brilliant. Wickedly funny and irreverent, it occasionally swoops down to blind=side the viewer with moments of heart-piercing pathos and poignancy. Great stuff.
I've also been thoroughly enjoying "Russian Doll", as well as British courtroom drama "The Brief", with Alan Davies (pity it only lasted two seasons) and detective procedural "Blue Murder" with Caroline Quentin, sidekick of Davies in the wonderful 90s crime-solving caper "Jonathan Creek".
i just started watching "Dexter", which is now available on Netflix, and love it!

A few favourite films aren't on Netflix, so I did the next best thing - found them available to rent or buy from Fetch, so I bought them.
Of course, films I REALLY love, you don't find on things like Netflix or Fetch......Sigh... I'm talking Teahouse Of The August Moon, The World of Nancy Kwan, Flower Drum Song, Keys Of The Kingdom Snow Flower And The Secret Fan.

I must say we watched Dancing with the Stars on Monday... much as he was/is a total... words fail.... it WAS fun to see Sean Spicer in the lime green shill shirt making fun of himself, and looking like he was having fun doing it.

I love Helen Mirren, too!
That said, I sat through the 2nd episode of HBO's "Catherine the Great", starring Mirren as the empress. It is abominable. Horrid script, Mirren and the guy playing Potemkin may be the first actors playing lovers with negative chemistry I have ever seen, and the acting is wooden and devoid of feeling. I mentioned in the Film thread the execrable movie "Winchester" - also starring Helen Mirren - so I have come to realize she's a female Michael Caine, who will pretty much take any job that offers a paycheck if there's nothing better on offer. Caine admitted this, having skipped the '88 Oscars (when he won for "Hannah and Her Sisters") because he was in the midst of shooting "Jaws: the Revenge".

Yes, she's usually SO good, even if the production happens to be mediocre. I really enjoyed "Prime Suspect", and its prequel miniseries "Prime Suspect 1973" (aired here as "Tennison"), starring Stefanie Martini as Jane Tennison at age 22 when she first started in the police force. That went to a place I NEVER foresaw as I watched the series.
But "Catherine the Great" ... ugh. Oh Helen, what were you thinking? I'll not watch episode 3 or any others.

I've started watching "Only Connect" on youtube. My favourite is the wall round, but I do like the first two rounds, too. However, the missing vowel round send me loopy. (that's this show: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_Connect)

I will admit to all of you reading this thread that I've become rather addicted to "The Great British Baking Show". Tell no one!
Still watching "Dexter", "Peaky Blinders", "Stranger Things", "The Crown" (overall it's good, but the occasional episode is only tepidly interesting ... waiting for Helena Bonham-Carter and Gillian Anderson), "Mindhunter", "The Handmaid's Tale", "Shrill" (I'm in love with Aidy Bryant - tell no one!), and "Crashing".
