I too got hooked on 'Say yes to the dress". Some of the outfits were fabulous but what I really enjoyed was the way the sales staff read the clients and put the pushy entourage's firmly where they belong... in the background. The season has finished here now so feeling a bit bereft of my guilty pleasure.

did I tell you that I spent most Monday nights of the spring/summer watching a show on French television, detailing the ups and downs of finding spouses for farmers. it's a yearly show and there's a lot of repetition throughout the series, but this is how it goes:
Soon, you'll get to see this next season's batch of bachelor farmers presented. Then, in the spring, you'll see them opening letters they received from eager members of the public, and choosing a number of them. then you'll see the farmers meet the shortlisted public for 10-minute "speed dating" events, at the end of which the farmers will choose up to two candidates to spend one week on their farm (both at the same time), at the issue of which, maybe, one will be chosen and they'll go together on a weekend holiday of their choice.
oh, the drama along the way! which ones find love, which ones find people eager for the exposure, which ones are berks, which ones are gems....

It is not a guilty pleasure, just an amazing experience: Blue Planet 2, presented by David Attenborough. The photography is mind blowing.

I recorded all the Christmas movies on Universal channel on Christmas Day, starting at 6:00am until 10:30pm. Finally watched them yesterday and today and must say they are all pretty so-so. None of them are a patch on Miracle on 34th Street or White Christmas or The Bishop's Wife (1948 version)
They have all been deleted, couldn't watch them a second time.

Big Little Lies Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Laura Dern. "The apparently perfect lives of three mothers of first graders unravel to the point of murder."
Watch it if you can. I have free HBO for a month and am soaking it all in.

i sometimes like to watch these really silly documentaries à la supernanny - just so i can think i am not doing that badly, my child is still reasonably behaved, and so i can disagree with the advice they give the parents ... recently i watched one that was more focussed on whether an issue was behavioural or had something else behind it (spoiler: of the two kids in each episode, one always needed stricter rules, the other had something like being on the spectrum or adhs or similar, so when they were first introduced, i always tried to guess which was which ...) ...

We've been watching a British show called "Wasted" about a bunch of early-20s slackers, frequently wasted, and funny.

riki, about supernanny, etc...it made me laugh slightly when I learned that the original "supernanny" (in the UK)had no training whatsoever to take care of children, which I wouldn't have thought terrible if I hadn't learned she didn't have children either. And loads of people followed her parenting advice.

right now i try to catch up with all the Marvels tv series that are out there, and there are many! I also like a serie called "Lucifer" Neil Gaiman is nvolved in that- can only be funny. But it is very shallow. I watched the first episode of Altered Carbon. Then I was told to read the book. Finished with the first book, now I will continue with tv serie.

We watch Lucifer too - I didn't know Neil Gaiman was involved. It's ok - nothing really special, but enjoyable enough.
And we've been watching Altered Carbon too - I think I'd like to read the book. Who wrote it?
