I love the English television shows, sadly they aren't shown much here now. Had a ball in London last year - watched them to my heart's content. (Which was why I missed so much of the touristy stuff).
Some of my favourites-
Midsomer Murders Heartbeat Monarch of the Glen The Bill Pie in the Sky Morse The Last Detective Darling Buds of May Bergerac Death in Paradise

never even turn on the tv when home but on our trip my brother-in-law recorded some anthony bourdain episodes... now that he's at cnn he has moved past the food orgy theme to a cultural insight one where food is secondary with the restaurants being places to discuss issues... enjoyed them a lot...

It's annoying if you start liking a show and then it's stopped after one or two seasons with out a proper end! They do that with books too....... ( like song of ice and fire, aka games of thrones..)

Ah Tzarine, I was just about to say Poldark. I've not watched TV all summer but the leaves falling and the nights drawing in is made joyous by the return of that dark, brooding devil hammering away in the mine. Ah, Sunday nights were made for Ross.

It's annoying if you start liking a show and then it's stopped after one or two seasons with out a proper end! Yes, Channel 7 showed "A Place To Call Home" and it was fabulous, I loved it. Then they axed it, then they made Series 2 after public outcry, then they axed it because apparently the supposed highest viewing demographic is over 55 and they want a younger audience! It was the only decent thing on television and well made. Obviously channel 7 have are only interested in young(er) viewers. There is too much American crap on Australian television, has been for a few years. But "A Place To Call Home" has been taken up by Foxtel and they have made series 3 and series 4. We don't have Foxtel so I can't watch them but luckily for me, our local library has them in their DVD collection.
