Cooking is for me a pleasure which I was denied in our poky kitchen in Italy. So tonight I was able to indulge myself. Today I bought a couple of leeks to go with our fish. Usually I cook leeks with lemon and sugar, or with red wine. These I cooked with chopped dates and a bit of Worcester sauce. It was a good combination.

Yesterday I drove to the garden to load up the car with feed sacks filled with logs for the stove and the house is warm. As I humped the last sack on top of the load a finger tip suffered from log and a hard place disorder which hurt, but it is OK, I'm a big boy, I didn't cry. Now it is swollen and blue but mus'n't grumble.

You're a tough one, Slow. Few of us would count a blue and swollen finger as (I quote) a positive thing.

I quite clearly had already failed in that. Now if only I had that advice before hand. Before Finger?

Hope it's recovering, slow.
My positive today is that I really, really enjoyed the leftover chili for supper. Putting in chipotle peppers (in adobe) gives it such a wonderful flavour.

First day of Spring, by some reckonings.
Plants in flower seen anew today: Lavender, Lupins, Poppies.
Amongst favoured winter flowers, Campion, Daisy family members, Fumitory.
Not to mention those dreaded ... , so I won't.

The clasp on my bum bag broke last week. When we are abroad I keep our passports safely in it. In England I keep my emergency phone in it. So it is useful. Six doors down our street we have Declan who fixes everything. He mends shoes, changes watch batteries, fixes front door locks, engraves sports cups, warns police about any suspicious characters down our bit of Horse Street. No problem. He fitted a new clasp in no time. Often he doesn't charge us (ke knows how much we do for the community). But he has to make a living. We were glad to pay £6 to have my belt in working order again.

Being lazy this morning. The pool where I swim is hosting the provincial diving competition so it’s either crazy busy or not available for laps/ water walking. Instead of going to another pool, I’m being very slothful.

Being lazy didn’t work out.. I ended up washing the patio and getting it ready for bbq season which will begin this weekend! Also I was busy getting the next 10 containers ready for seeding. 4 got seeded with basil seeds and the others flowers: Nicotina, rudbeckia and asters.
