A day's respite from fog
It is market day and we made it for the first time since early December, or perhaps earlier.
My wife has a hospital appointment on Friday. Any fog must clear before midday if we are to make it.

For the first time this year the sun is thinking about coming out. It is taking baby steps but I fear it will not like what it sees and will hide its face again.

A day (a few hours anyways) to myself .. I dropped the car off to get its first check and I went downtown. First to a IMAX movie about Angkor (brought back great memories) then for a brunch (a poke bowl, very yummy) and a bookstore where I didn’t buy any books.

Last time we visited my mother in law she was confused and anxious. It was quite distressing - for her snd for us.
Today she was herself - knew where and (approximately) when she was, had energy, and was content. We played crocinole and she trounced both me and Mr_S quite thoroughly.

The fellow who delivered my Brekkie order was gorgeous - ohh be still my beating heart. He was soo sexily handsome - better than George Clooney almost. In A Visit from St. Nicholas the children may have had visions of sugar-plums dancing in their heads; but in my head I have visions of SexyBod dancing in mine!

He was delivering brekkie? Tell him it would be easier if he stayed all night and then fetched it.

There is some brie in the fridge that my wife kept there but never ate. We disagree about Brie, I think it should be left out until it is somewhat runny and needs chasing around the kitchen, so I rarely get to eat any.
The packaging advises that it should have been eaten last summer. It is tastily very ripe but solid and stationary. Which is lovely but six months is a long time to wait.

" Look, Ma, no cavities !" Painting by Norman Rockwell that was used by Crest as an ad - and then filmed with a real kid, calling it out.

My son used some of the money he received for his birthday to buy my flowers today. Seeing the joy on his face when he gave then to me and also afterwards warned my heart. I love that he felt so amazing because he did something kind for someone else (and it was lucky me). Intrinsic reward is what I have tried to instil in him and I think we are winning!

it's not that well known here, though not unknown, either (it's on disney, so people will end up finding it, and i've recently also seen some bluey toys and books in shops) ... was mentioned to me on another forum, when i was looking for something easy to watch with a. for english practice (before we watched peppa, but that's a bit too easy by now) - so we tried it and both loved it ... though by she also sometimes watches longer shows for english practice (we watched kipo and the age of wonderbeasts and recently started avatar the last airbender) ...

this morning, a. got up on her own and got dressed before i got up, so without me having to tell her even once. she also ate her breakfast quickly and in general got ready for school quickly. in front of the school, her english teacher praised her - and a. later showed me an english test under which the teacher had written "brilliant". later, my brother told me that my mom called him, on her own, without anyone helping her. and later, when i called my sister in law to ask her something, she was just visiting mom, so i spoke to her on the phone, and then my sister in law told me that mom managed to get into bed from her wheelchair with just a little help. and in the evening, a. practiced her instruments without protest and even with motivation and having fun. and she seemed in a good mood most of the time, today.
