I'm back up north, and it's going to be -14C again tomorrow and even colder the next day. Sigh. Winter is NOT over here, apparently.

The cuckoos have been back for a while, the lavender is flowering, and it's getting hot.

Yesterday I was sitting on our terrace in the shade, as it was too hot in the sun. I had to put the sunshade up. That has never ever happened to me here in mid march ! Crazy ! But I so enjoy it ! Last year we had half a meter of snow end or March around easter.

I'll be in Spain for a month in less than three weeks. I hope it stays fine then.

The countryside is changing to russet hues as the oaks come into flower.
The snakes are warming up, I have seen my first culebra of the year, a small example of a Montpellier Snake. Stupid dog tried to chase it!
Many more wild flowers in bloom.

Spring may soon be over! Unless it rains again it won't last much longer. Most flowering plants are finishing flowering and going to seed, some are already finished. Wild oats are ripe, the oaks have flowered and are producing their new leaves. From the garden we have broadbeans and a few peas from plants that over wintered. The cheery trees are in full blossom and the apricots finished a while ago.

Winter is over; for the swallows have returned.
The first arrived on the 14th, a day or two later than last year. I heard this year's first cuckoo on the 26th, and there are many spring flowers in bloom to add to those that are still in flower from last autumn.
Sadly there has been very little rain so far this year and that is not good.

Winter isn't over here unfortunately. Snow forecast for the next few days, though mixed with rain and it won't last. Still... I am dying to be able to sit outside in my little yard and have the first bbq... will have to be patient. Slow, I wish I could send you our rain !

I've just got tonight in Germany before driving south to Andalucia. I hope winter is over. I think it should be fine once you get there, but it will still be cold on the sierras and the plateau. We are not at a high altitude so it is a lot warmer.

Well right now it appears that it is snowing over the eastern end of the Pyrenees.
But here it is sunny and 18-20 ºC.
Similar day time temps are expected around Jaen after tomorrow but with cooler nights than here.
Here the following are flowering:
Campion Red Dead Nettle Bugle (or similar) various Geraniums various yellow, yellow/white members of the Daisy, Dandelion, Thistle gang Lupins Fumitory various assorted blue/purple jobs Broom Cherry Trees
In all cases the wild variety if there be a cultivated variant of the same name.
Two mornings ago I saw a ewe taking a post partum lie down whilst her new born lamb stumbled about trying to get the hang of life.

This is our first spring in our new abode so it is interesting seeing what is coming up and doing well. We came back from Tunisia to find a huge patch of snowdrops in bloom. There are lots of crocuses around in bloom. Daffodils are I bud. Tulips are coming up, and so are mystery bulbs. There are fat flower buds on the magnolia sunny weather.
