What's a mandarina? It's very cold and rainy here, but I don't want it to be four billion degrees either! I will send you a couple of hours of rain for 10 degrees of warmth. I'm sure rural France will be delightfully warm while you are there, rosie.

This talk of fruit reminds me that I took a small apricot with me to work this morning, and now I have no idea where it might be. In my bag? In a pocket? On my desk? I hope I find it unsquashed.

Just had the awesomest steak sandwich for dinner. And beer, of course.

Just had toast with peanut butter and honey. And coffee, of course.
No sign of any apricots here....
I think a satsuma and mandarin are very similar, if not the same fruit, tiny. A tangerine is different.
What kind of camera did you get, jeff?
It's cold and rainy here again.

the weather here makes me think of when it was traditional to eat mandarins/clementines/tangerines/satsumas/minneolas or whichever variety citrus fruit... on the run up to Xmas...
We are due a proper summer. we deserve it. who's ready to sign the petition with me?

Mandarins are a Christmas treat here too, annie.
I've signed the petition and led several protest marches demanding a proper summer....

i got the newist canon sx... i really liked my sx100, which was the first of the line, but it got wonky and grainy so i had been planning to replace it... i did my research and the sx280 gets great reviews for the picture and it has wifi so i can upload pictures easily... it also has a 20x zoom which is amazing - and the image stabilization works wonderfully... on nexxie's -2C thread i posted a shot i took yesterday (as soon as i unwrapped the toy and the battery was fully charged) at full zoom... i then wifi twinned the camera to my cellphone and sent the picture to fb - then i downloaded it from fb to post here - and it all worked... i'm pleased as punch ;D

I think of mandarin oranges as similar to but different than clementines. Maybe it's the marketing department talking.

i think of clementinas as smaller, with seeds.

actually mandarins, clementines, satsumas and tamgerine oranges are all a bit different from each other. Here, the satsumas are the best and sweetest, and then the clementines. tangerines aren't seen much anymore, not mandarins. In the olden days, when i was young (sigh) the only kind you ever saw was the mandarin or tangerine. The thing they all have in common is the ease of peeling. Some don't have seeds either, but i can't remember which.
there. thats my bit of edumacation for the day.

since citrus all comes from china... then mandarin should be the name for small, easily peeled, oranges ;D and then the others are the varieties... mapes, it is amazingly small and light... and fits into my breast pocket - another deal maker with a neck strap... the only negative is that it uses a proprietary battery rather than the rechargeable AAs the old one did (which back then was one of my deal makers)... unfortunately ALL decent cameras these days use proprietary batteries... which i had sworn off when my original digital camera died in japan and to replace the battery cost almost as much as a new camera

I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on beer and foodie treats today. As in, for home consumption, not consumed while out. Right now I'm eating dark chocolate with ginger and orange.

I'm indoors in my winter pajamas with the heat on because it's 8C outside. 8C at 8 am! On May 25! Hmmph!! Windchill is going to be below 5C (and so in the 30s F).
Actually, we'll be bundling up and leaving soon.

Your weather is like my weather, birdman. Getting down to 5-8C overnight, slow to warm up in the morning. Thankfully it does eventually warm up to 17-19C.
