Good frosty morning from here too. It's sunny but -2C and I've had to have a fire on this morning. Still, it's always nice to see the sun. The feeders are full of hungry red-winged blackbirds this morning.

Belch.
I started coughing about a week or 8 days ago, and it's really annoying me. I feel good except that there's this congestion - my ears are blocked half the time and my nose fills a bit, and then a few times each day I have coughing fits and my chest seems to rattle. Why won't it go away???!!!

I've heard the same complaint from a few other people lately, Scrubb. It seems to be something that's going around and digging in.

Good morning, nerd things! Tiny, sorry I wandered off after asking you a question. Good for you on the treadmill! Read a good book while you're on there, it makes the time go faster. Aren't you glad Mad Men is back to it's normal format? I'm still not loving it so much this season. Don is a pig. Lefty...I'm not a bummy! Annie...you're leaving?

Oh running! I don't do running on the treadmill, just rapid walking on an incline. My trainer said running would be bad for my joints.

ah. does rapid walking on an incline up your heart rate enough though? enough for what, you may be asking....

yes, that was exactly what I was about to ask, dragonette!

Yep, you pump your arms at the same time. Both my trainer and my chiropractor are dead set against jogging for anyone, they say it's really hard on the joints. Brisk uphill walking for 30 minutes gives you a good cardiac workout.

shminteresting. but then....how do you hold the book if you're pumping your arms?

Book holder. The treadmill has an acrylic book holder attached to it. You just have to try not to fall over when turning the pages. (I think Amazon sells them). I set a program and the treadmill does all the thinking...varying the speed and incline and starting and ending with a warm up/cool down program. Really you don't have to think, just keep moving. That's why I like reading to pass the time.

maybe i should get a book holder. but until then, i dunno. my husband downloaded me some podcasts, but now i don't know where he put the ipod. and of course HE's out playing volleyball. i'm a little worried too that the treadmill will wake my coughing potato. these are my concerns. thank you.

I'm most concerned by the coughing potato!

Post by tinier_dragon on Apr 25, 2013 3:33:08 GMT 2
he's okay. he does get a lot of coughs. but there's a lot of pollution here. i think we'll skip swimming tomorrow though, just to make sure. which is a bummer for both of us.
but i just treadmilled for 30 minutes! sometimes i walked and sometimes i jogged very slowly. my joints feel fine. i listened to "wait wait don't tell me." that was entertaining.
