I used to do all sorts of projects around the house.. whether it’d be furniture refinishing or building gates or wallpapering a room. The last number of years I have been putting my project energy into gardening (and a few pieces of furniture getting refinished). I bought 2 chairs which match our dining room set perfectly but have different leather on the seat and the wood under the seat needs replacing. I thought it’d be a great project for me but now I realize with my leg issues, it won’t be as easy as I thought. I think I decided today to get someone else to do it. Now I will have to think of crafty projects which I can do.. but I will wait to see how functional I will be on my feet before I decide on anything.

ah.... crafty projects.... judging by several people who have had the knee operation you're expecting... you'll be back working on the chairs after a few months. maybe organise your workshop to be able to work standing up rather than crouched/bending over the chair.
maybe you need to plan for some crafts usually done seated for a few months?

Sophie -- I planned to recover the seats on my dining chairs on the porch - thought it would be easy peasy. unscrew them, rip off the old covers, staple on new, screw back. Bought the fabric. steps one and two done. went to buy a staple gun as didn't have one down here. ooops. These arthritic hands can't squeeze it ! returned it. Found a neighbor with an electric one... who knew??
