Vegan leather! What a Rip off! Whomever thought that up is one smart cookie! It’s either leather or it’s not Leather. Calling something vegan leather is just a way for people to feel good about themselves! “Oh, we don’t wear fur coats….think of the animals” “Oh, we don’t wear leather boots …..think of the poor animals” We wear vegan leather, we have a pleather sofa. If it ain’t leather it’s vinyl. You can give it whatever fancy name you like, but if it’s not leather, it’s not leather. To hell with it all! No way would I wear non-leather shoes. Except thongs of course, they’re different!

Seems like a silly term to me, but I guess we have vegan meat, so...
Still, didn't they used to just say "synthetic material"? What was wrong with that?
I was interested - and surprised - to hear that synthetic boots/shoes are actually better for the environment than leather. I'd always assumed that all the chemical and plastic crap that goes into making a pair of synthetic boots would be much worse than leather, but nope, it's the other way around. The techniques for tanning and dying and all that are actually nastier.

'Twas Leatherette.
I guess the vegan market must be bigger than the PU fanciers market.
