Tonight, I thought I'd add that small endive with the parsnip, as they both needed eating. Yuck! I'm not enjoying. the endive is totally overpowering the parsnip, even with turmeric and blackpepper.

That is one problem I would never have Annie. 1. Endive is yuk, so I wouldn’t be buying it. It’s bitter. 2. Parsnip is something my mother baked with potatoes, carrots and pumpkin and the leg of lamb on Sundays, which I detested and never buy. 3. Should this happen again, my advice is roast the parsnip with other root veggies in the oven and lose the endive

I love parsnips, but find them a bit sweet.
The bitterness of endives has been mostly taken away from this vegetable and I love it.
Also, bitter foods are essential to health.

I only roast parsnips, when I can get them which is rare, and it is usually with Christmas dinner.

Mark, they are getting more popular and I can now find them most of the winter in Switzerland.

I would kill to get my hands on any sort of endives. Apparently Aussies have no idea about them so I go without. I love all of them. Belgium endives and the curly green sort too. My dad grew the curly sort in our yard and ate it every day. He is still alive at a very old age. Totally agree with miss Annie. Very good for you. Good for your blood.

I should imagine jam on cauliflower wouldn’t work. Neither would Vegemite with whipped cream. It’s a little like everyone knows a tomato is a fruit but you don’t add it to the fruit salad!
Speaking of fruit, I know someone who is a fruit cake. And Mother always said some people were nuttier than a fruit cake.

My ex-wife and a carving knife was a combination that didn't work - literally. She would start talking and the carving knife would stay stationary in her hand while guests at the table looked on hungrily.

Well at least she didn’t wave her knifed hand around while she was talking. I knew someone who used to do that. Ever watched a knife being waved around? It can be quite off-putting. Strange though, very few had a big appetite when the meal was finally served.

I have been told that I should not mix prawns and grapefruit in a salad. I wonder why not. Prawns go with other citrus - limes, lemons, though I wouldn't chance oranges. I think we need you to report on an experiment.
