Being in the complementary medicine field, I meet a lot of charlatans. Some are easier to detect than others. Over the years, i've developed a kind of sense about it. Which doesn't always work immediately.

You can tell by the lies that come out of their mouths. And they will try and persuade you to part with your money.

I have observed that an individual's ability to spot a charlatan decreases as their desperation for the purported remedy increases.
Which is a neat trick, to fool just those most needing to be wise.
The best viewpoint is always a disinterested one.
So ironic questioning should work, express a deep interest in what they do, feign ignorance in their field, suggest that they might really be able to help an unnamed friend who has symptoms that have a well known and cheap remedy and see what lucrative rubbish they espouse.
Charlatans need care little for symptoms if the remedy is always the same.

The Human Potential Movement proposed quite rightly that people harbour untapped potential.
Potential that could be released by the transfer of a large sum of money.

The Bangkok Post has a horoscope. I think it wise to consult it before we go. So...
Someone who's nice to your face may talk badly about you behind your back. Don't tell people about your brilliant ideas as someone may steal them.

w their leicas, nikons ... It is a bit like art class beginners buying the best and most expensive brushes. I know from someone who sells camera equipment that the prime location is "Departures". The typical target is rich, bored, and in Dubai. ETA: Ah yes, a Hasselblad body an excellent choice. Would your Omniscience like a lens with that? Ker-ching $10,000

An art director I knew said one Hasselblad wasn't enough. You needed a standby for when the first Hasselblad was being repaired.

slow i covet a leica bc thats what cartier bresson I could buy the camera but would it alone seize the decisive moment. We do seem to have a number of interests in common. I took up photography when that meant tanks and chemicals, and I was younger and greedy for images. I had a Microcord a British made TLR, a "Rollei" would have been far beyond my prétention and pocket I quite fancied an F2 (Titanium) if I could have found a truly rough example that looked like it had been in the wars which it most probably had and people would think I couldn't afford a decent camera.

A local shop around here where I usually by my spices is all into these doterra oils! Quite expensive and the shop owner is an enthousiast, advertising the healing properties of the oils to all customers.
