...How funny it is to read all the pseudo Lefties above and the Righteous Right above!
I reckon even Maggie would be larfing in her grave now at the bollocks that has been spouted - both in the papers and above!
She'd have loved it!
She so divided opinions like no other PM has and for that, I saulte her...but then I'm a Southern Softie!
Great comment above about all these eff Wits who are between 20 and 30 now who are throwing Parties after her death who never experienced her 3 terms...
I think that Maggie's death and subsequent reaction just sums up England....

I agree with you there Geeky, I never lived in the Uk when I was old enough to understand politics but being a Brit abroad I always followed it. All these pricks celebrating her death just shows what a sorry state things have come to, like her or not she was one of the greatest politicians of time and deserves a little respect. Some wanker on one the other branches compared her to Hitler.
And no I don't read the Daily Mail...

eff! Thanks for the reply there, Hedon'!
I thought I was wasting my time on here!
I can slightly see the reference to Hitler there as both were determined and brought a Nation together..whether you like it or not, Hitler was incredible as a Speaker and a Galvaniser of action...notwithstanding his Ideals were totally Fucked up...
Ma55ie was the same on a far smaller scale...
Anyway, I hope that your Chicken House - the one we went to - is still going - and you keep frequenting it - it was like an unlicensed KFC!
Keep on keeping it on...

She 'brought a nation together'? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Hilarious. Yes, you can see with the reaction to her death how she rallied everyone together.

As geeks says, nobody under 45 really experienced Thatcher in full flow. For instance, I was at school when the miners' strike took place.

God, she scared the shit out of me and gave me nightmares even as a child. But that aside, I disagree that no one under 45 experienced her or is unqualified to comment, I think each generation since her spell in power has been deeply effected by her and and her policies. Whether you believe she brought a nation together or ripped the heart out of it, she changed the shape of the country. But we will never agree on this, if nothing else she is divisive to the end.

I'm with Tilly at least as far as the age criterion and certainly the divisive bit. I guess anyone old enough to have attended school and watch the evening news during her premiership would have a valid personal opinion. So I guess that would be from 30+ to 40ish. Depending where you were in these countries, school might indeed been a good place to form an opinion.

This is of interest if one wishes to rank her economic achievements: Government Revenues from UK Oil and Gas Production (2009/10 prices) One has to ask what good use was made of the selling of this national wealth plus the revenue from the major privitisations and the sale of the social housing stock. Was it primarily invested in national capital or used to further an ideological agenda? That it paid for the furtherance of her agenda there can be no doubt. I guess we are looking at a windfall of over £200bn in the same prices as in effect during the UK bank bailout. Although the total value of money put at risk stabilizating the UK banks was around £500bn, the cost of UK government investment in the banks (the degree to which they were nationalised) was ~£50bn compared to the peak oil/gas revenue year coming in at ~£35bn in 1984/5 (in the same 2009/10 prices). That I think gives some perspective on economic governance during the Thatcher premiership.

Looks like you lot woke up!
"She so divided opinions like no other PM has and for that, I saulte her." That was in the OP, E55!
"I think each generation since her spell in power has been deeply effected by her and and her policies"?? Care to expand on that as I reckon that there's only been One Generation in between..
Effected would be the House Ownership - I assume you own your own 'House'?...And the lack of Union Power - not such a bad thing?..
'Coach?? All these Kunting 20-30 year old drinking and holding up newspaper headlines of Maggie's Death and 'Partying'?? How stupid must they be as they never went through the Miner's Strike, the Poll Tax Riots or the Falklands shite - those Kunts deserve a Fucking good lesson in British Hostory - and a red hot Poker up their wrong un...Typical trendy and young Lefties jumping on any band wagon...
Oh, and I don't give a shite about your Poxy Graph, above, as it's annoying and puts you in the 'Pretentious' bracket on here.....Far Canal!
