I can hardly believe this!

I am pricing bus and flights to Chiloé next month. The sleeper bus to the town of Castro is 35,000 pesos one-way. I just checked LanChile and we can fly to Puerto Montt, the nearest airport, for 19,500 one-way plus taxes. Taxes were around 10,000 round trip on our recent flight, so that would make it about 24,500. We still have to take a ferry from there, which will cost something, but I would think less than 10,000. Tt is amazing that in all it costs less to fly than to take the bus. I remember when it was insanely expensive to fly within Chile.

Crazy ! A few years ago I flew for something like 100Euros to Lisbon and back. We would have spent a hell of a lot more in fuel if we drove!

Now I am just waiting to hear from the neighbor who takes care of our perts. She is almost sure she can do it, but needed to check one thing first. Then we will book the tickets before the cheap ones sell out.
