Had a Twitter account just because I was curious, never tweeted but some twit decided to follow my non-tweets (?). I deleted myself after a month or so of absolute nothingness. Waste of time and space, for me anyway.

I use it. I started when I used to travel a lot so my family could keep up with me in "real time".
Now that I've moved back to the USA, I use it to keep up with friends in Germany.

Why use #tag Twatter when you don't have the restriction of the 140 character thang with a Blog or Facewank etc?
I am sure that your mates in Square Head Land can't wait to hear that you've just ordered a 30oz burger and fries with a few bottles of shite Bud'?

The whole FBrape campaign on Twitter is a good example of how owerful social media and particuarly twitter can be. In a relatively short space of time it had got multinational companies to move from defending their advertising on Facebook, to withdrawing it. Not long after FB changed it's policy towards anti-women hate content. www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22699761

"But overnight the company has had to respond to a campaign by women's rights groups, angry about its apparent tolerance of misogynistic hate speech on the site. Facebook has been forced to face facts - offensive content posted on its platform will be seen by many as its responsibility and could harm its business."
But you get the same shite on Twatter, don't you?
I am sure that the name of the victim of a rape by a certain Seffield United player and his mates was Twatted rather than released on Facewank - or so the Judge at the High Court agreed.
I think that both mediums are as bad as each other and do wonder what we ever did to amuse ourselves before both were invented - I know that my right wrist used to be bi55er!

Yeah, of course individuals can comment about anything on there. But I was commenting more on the campiagn's use of Twitter more than it being holier than fb or anything.
Yeah, eff knows what I used to do. Maybe I once had a life?

I think many a person had a better Life before the advent of Twatter and Facewank...
I hear what you say about certain Groups making a difference on both Social Media forms but, personally, I think it does more harm than good.
Weren't the riots last Summer - especially in London - organised via Facewank and Twatter? If there was none of them, nothing would have happened.

Interesting discussion, reasons, points.
My story: One random morning reading two old books, one a cookbook one architecture of mine I´ve read plenty of other times, but it it finally dawned on me, now we´ve the internet, as I was wondering about two of the people lives, I could google them. One was an old woman who´d given an old family recipe and spoke of her life and family; the other was an chef couple who had built their dream kitchen-restaurant. One of them happened to be on twitter.
I´d never really even thought much of twitter, but opened an account, and followed the chef. I found lots of other interesting things/people to follow, mostly chefs, slow food/cities, architecture, science, museums, art, cities I´ve lived, and obscure random things like bloggers I like, or a big drugstore in NYC I used to use, random sports teams I like, gardeners. Other interests of mine.
I don´t have lots of time, but if I rarely do, I´ll pick a few from my list I´m following, check out what´s going on with that, and get random new topics, ideas to go from there, to think about, or learn something new.
Quite liking it. Some really lovely people there. And I get to practice my languages. My latin has gotten horrible! rolls eyes! I followed the Pope in latin now to practice,).
Agree there is a lot of garbage on twitter, too but if you look past that, and if it weren´t for that there wouldn´t be a twitter, there´s lots more than just that.
